Yes, it can, partly... you'll be able to get a DVI-D signal out of it, which is the same a as HDMI video-wise. However, it is lacking audio.

The U8500 is the SoC Nokia will be using for their Windows Phone devices. If it will be used in their first devices: I don't know. Based on the statement that the Consumer Harmattan Device will use the same SoC as their first Windows Phone devices, I assumed it will be the U8500.

Yeah it’s clear enough for a while now But at first you stated that it will have the U8500 SoC and not that you’re assuming it will have that SoC. So it was a bit confusing.

I've never refreshed the TMO site this often this year!

Anyone here with great knowledge please tell if current maemo applications will work without porting in the upcoming harmattan device ?

That would be Qualcomm then because Nokia is using Qualcomm first. Said by Nokia's spokesperson as did Qualcomms so it can't get much more official than that.
Nokia's WP might use U8500 later on, but Nokia hasn't said anything about that, just ST-Ericsson.

And i very much doubt Nokia would use Qualcomm on their own project, neither is there any hint of that anywhere in the mailing lists. OMAP3 is still where my bet is like it has been for past 6 months.

Apps in Qt should port fairly easily, especially those written using QtQuick/QML, we should be able to use any MeeGo apps aswell. Gtk apps on the other hand will need to be pretty much rewritten unless there's a good Gtk port to Harmattan, of which I'm unsure about now. Though it was originally the plan ...

Nokia’s Windows Phone devices are currently labelled with “W” (for Windows). The first handset is expected to be a variant of Nokia’s X7 device. The prototype is equipped with a WVGA display, Qualcomm QSD8250 chipset and 8MP camera. Nokia is also rumored to be launching a dual-core N8 variant with a 12MP camera, QWERTY touchscreen candy bar phone and a cheaper touchscreen device with less expensive body.
