hei nicolai... what about a layer on top camera ui (with a selectable .psd with transparency or ather format with and an opacity adjuster), so we can use the image on that layer as a reference picture for drawings.(opening the camera, selecting a picture, placing the phone about 6 inch on a surface I want to draw)

This has been a problem from the beginning. Workarounds are using macro (or whatever it's called) mode (the one with the flower as the symbol) and simply re-trying to focus, but neither are 100% effective.

@SHARP66
Isn't it easier to shoot a picture and use this picture
as background layer in MyPaint or similiar paint app?
Or I have misunderstood you.

@athame
Where do you use ext3 partitition, memory card or your home partitition?
If the memorycard hasn't a FAT partitition it isn't recognized
by maemo and my camera-ui cannot "see" the memorycard.

If you modify some scripts a little, maemo recognises and mounts ext* partitions, and camera-ui2 has no trouble saving to them.

misunderstood because of my bad english
I want to copy the image of that layer to the real paper, or whatever...normal hand drawing....I look to drawing, when I draw thru camera screen. And that way I follow the lines of that picture on layer with my pencil on paper.
So when I have no money, I make a picture of a face put that picture on top of camera ui screen and in 5 minutes I draw that face on a paper...and I become millionaire.

Sorry, I still fail to get Your drawing technique. Maybe some schema gimp/paint picture explaining what You want to achieve?

Somehow i feel You may have good idea, but I'm afraid that on this moment no one understand, what You're trying to tell us.

As I understand it, it is similar to something my parents used when they were students. You can basically trace a picture's most important information onto a blank piece of paper by visually overlaying the image onto the piece of paper and tracing anything that you deem important. The advantage is that you don't have to approximate since you have the template right there.

Another way to think of this is if you printed the image and traced onto a piece of see-through material directly on top of the paper, only that you wouldn't have to incur the cost of printing, etc. with this method.

Ancow, second method is clear for me, but I don't exactly understand how one can overlay picture from N900 to paper, except that placing paper on N900 screen backlighted, and paint this way. Ho ever, I don't know what this have to do with camera-ui2 - one can just view that image on picture viewer, with backlight enabled all the time.

I don't get what transparency layers on camera-ui2 have to do with drawing on paper.
