Mounting the optfs isn't hard. I'm pretty sure it would be:

...As root.

hello all..i'm having trouble here with installing nitdroid...i'm trying to install nitdroid, but this is what i get..

any idea how to overcome this?

Last I checked, nitdroid uses keyboard out boot and is thus incompatible with BM.

I mounted it on the n900 itself, and it worked fine.

I have done some research and now I am skilled enough to (or try to) prepare an initrd for N900.

So I can try to make an Initrd image with backupmenu, but unfortunately there is a main problem to resolve.

N900's kernels haven't ext2 or ext3 statically compiled so the only filesystems available at boottime are ubifs and cramfs

Ubifs cannot be used for a ramdisk and cramfs in read only but I have read that Backupmenu wants a RW filesystem.

No, there shouldn't be any need for a RW filesystem, though the launcher script will/does(I forget if it's in the latest, or just the version I'm working on) include a tarball of script files which get extracted at runtime. Obviously, provided that those script files are in place when BackupMenu.item gets run, everything will be fine.

Oh, there -are- a couple of files in /tmp/ that get written too(status files) - You'd want to mount a tmpfs there before running BackupMenu.item
Note that that's not hard, and tmpfs support -does- seem to be compiled in.

As parallel project I spent the last 2 days learning well BootMenu and Multiboot with intention to port BackupMenu under Multiboot also.

Today I have discovered that someone other has already done it and he have already published a complete guide.

ups sorry i dont see your post.

thanks for doing it.

i am searching some solution to this.

it would be best to create a separate installation from the repositories do not need bootmenu and that it was compatible with multiboot.

backupmenu've tried so far and is working perfectly but I have problems with kernel-power.

finally i have working kernel-power too.

but still i am having troubles with the unmet dependencies us backupmenu.


out of this, everything goes well.
