I'v rebooted the tablet sevral times and even created my own custom boot screen, but the shut down still shows lcars. I kept the 3 themes and the sounds package. Any ideas?

[Edit] If i delete the icon-theme.cache file do you think this might help?

[Edit#2] After removing all of the lcars packages and a few dozen reboots the lcars shutdown screen is gone. I guess i need to learn the value of Patience.
I have the exact same Phenomenon on my N810.

After later reinstalling lcars-complete and again removing and rebooting, i still have the shutdown-federation logo.

Any suggestions beside flashing?

Did you make sure to remove lcars-extras?

At worst, if removing it doesn't work, you could find the startup screen thread and replace the LCARS bootscreens with either custom or original ones (I like these ).

Would be nice if colors could be changed, I ***LOVE*** LCARS but for one problem with links in sdict. The come out a VERY dark red and are unreadable unless one highlights them.

I switched back to one of the stock themes and sdict links are readable, but I think I'm happier having to highlight them.

Any way to change this? Search came up dry (for GeneralAntilles :-).

Thanks!

After uninstalling lcars-complete and lcars-extras, a full reboot should reload all your old graphics. You may have actually been doing soft-reboots... (was your power cord plugged in?) You need to unplug the power before "switching off" to actually shutdown the device, otherwise it just goes into charging mode (where Linux is still running, just at a different runlevel). I think a soft reboot may also sometimes happen if you turn the device back on immediately after powering off; try leaving it off for 10 or 15 seconds before turning it back on. If you see a progress bar during startup, it's a full reboot and all graphics should be reloaded.

Theme colors are defined in /usr/share/themes/theme-name/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

Unfortunately (as discussed earlier in the thread) some applications have hardcoded text colors, and are therefore outside the theme's control. SDict Viewer is open source, so you could submit a bug about the hardcoded text colors, or change them yourself and recompile.

I'm bringing this thread back to life since I have the same problem as two posters above...

Specifically, uninstalling the theme pack retains the modified shutdown splash screen.

I've uninstalled everything, rebooted over 20 times and the shutdown screen remains. :/

I know I'm doing a proper reboot, since I'm seeing the start up loading bar...

Any ideas on restoring the original shutdown screen?

This issue is explained at some length here: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...772#post218772

Long story short, the lcars-extras 4.1 package does restore all image files when uninstalled, but it doesn't update the icon cache, and as a result, the shutdown graphic stays behind until the user (or another package) updates the cache.

You can can update your icon cache (and restore the shutdown image to whatever is currently installed) by running the following command in a root shell. (see https://wiki.maemo.org/Root_access )

Code:
gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/hicolor
We'll fix the problem in our next release, by adding that line to the post-install and post-removal scripts for lcars-extras. Sorry for the inconvenience!

can you make the top bar thicker so that the load applet doesnt hang off? and that the text shows up right in app manager in the modern theme?

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm probably not going to change the top bar... I like it the way it is.

If you'd like to make the change yourself, see: http://synthesize.us/LCARS_PADD/HOWT..._hildon_themes

You could also modify the load-applet's graphics (in /usr/share/pixmaps/) to fit the theme, but unfortunately they aren't normal icons; the load meters are composited from a few graphics, which limits how much the appearance can be changed (short of modifying the code).

That bug was introduced in Diablo, and it's beyond my control. Nokia is aware of the problem: https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3503
