We need a little bit of more information :
Can you send us the log generated by the application installer? It says the reason why the install failed. Did you try enabling the "Maemo extras" repository in the application catalogue?
Go to the application installer,
hit the menu (the little icon in the title bar of the application)
and search for the application catalog option
once there the maemo extras will be disabled , try to enable it, refresh.
If your connection is ok, the refresh will be fine.. and canola will appear in the list of installable apps.
Try installing, if the error still happens you can find the log in the menu again (search for the option LOG) and send to us here the message.
This is probably by :
a. some connection problem
b. catalog conflict
c. proxy / any other filter in your connection.

Fresh install of Chinook and a Fresh install of Canola2-Beta9, and files will not play when you go into 'All Songs' or 'Random Song'. Song titles show up, but upon clicking one, it goes in to play the song, then pops up a window with 'File Not Found'. But going in under 'Browse by Folder' and then selecting the folder the songs are in, works. What gives?
I discovered it after installing Carman, and then uninstalling both with the Cleanup tool (which deleted both Carman and Canola, oddly) and upon reinstalling, discovered the problem. It used to work just fine.

Thanks Marcelo,
Here is what the log has to say:
Installing canola2 2.0.0~beta9-maemo3
E: I wasn't able to locate file for the python2.5-feedparser package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package.(due to missing arch)
I installed carman without problems...

Carman does not use the feedparser package, that's why you have no problems to install it.
Can you please tell us which is your device (770, N800, N810) and which is the version of the firmware installed (OS2006 aka gregale, OS2007 aka bora, OS2007HE aka Hacker Edition, OS2008 aka chinook, OS200HE, Diablo)??
This may help us to find what exactly is your problem.
Thanks, Etrunko.

Ditto zwerfkat...
I can't seem to find Media at all either. In fact the "UPDATING MEDIA LIBRARY" display holds for an awfully long time before returning to the Media Folders display.
This version (Beta9) seems to be "knackered" for me.
And yes, I have not only disabled but deleted the Extras-devel repository and run the Canola-Cleanup TWICE before each install.
To me it looks like something may have changed the files-associations, but I could be wrong.
Short of reflashing and reinstalling everything...how to fix?
Is any of the mp3/cover art mechanism dependent on libssl? I've run canola -vv to try to take a closer look, but I realized last night that I was missing a libssl.so.0.9.7 dependency for gizmo (uninstalled a while ago, and tried downloading and installing gizmo again).
Thanks,
- Jason
