Back on subject... I never came to itT or talk.maemo.org because of how the site looked. I came because it contains useful information, fun conversations, new ideas, and friends who all have similar interests to mine. Why would the "look" of something like this deter me from coming back? (Seriously, I find it very contradictory to my way of thinking.)

In any regard, I have no problem viewing the new site (i.e., my eyes have never "burned" from looking at it). Sure, every new design will take some time to get used to, but... Does anyone remember how long it took to get used to the N810-ish design of itT?

But, that is the way of humanity, isn't it? No memory of history and quick, gut reactions to things that are different.

Tim

There's a list of moderators in the wiki.* And, as stated on that page, if you, or anyone else, wishes to be a moderator, you should contact Reggie.

* Is this list complete and up to date? Tim, are you a mod?

EDIT: According to Tim's title he is. He doesn't seem the type to play the heavy though.

I thought "forum features will be retained" meant that the themes will still be available. I don't care what is the default theme, as long as I may choose a reasonable one.

I use the forum less these days, but that's mostly due to the content - lots of stuff for programmers, some for "newbies" (I find that term really insulting, btw), but not a lot for non-programmers who have been using the tablets for a while. Lately, I've been coming to read Krisse's material, which I find align with my own thoughts.

But enough about me. How are you?

<looks at forum layout>

Well, scroll down a little bit, and the right 1/3 of the screen is empty. Why is that? And the theme is incredibly bright, although so is the sun coming through the window. So my eyes aren't burning, but I have a headache from looking to the left.

Reggie, have you tried reversing the black/white elements on the forum? You'd still have the Maemo look, but that might make Talk the 'yin' to the Nokia Maemo 'yang'. (And please, people, don't lecture me about the subtleties of Nokia's involvement, just focus on the layout...)

That's just it : I didn't like it and didn't have to get used to it. I just went on using the Classic theme right up to a few days ago : I had a *choice*. Just like I always use Minimalist on the tablets -- but it seems even that is going to turn orange-on-white...

you make it sound like maemo.org was some barbarian army that won a battle against the itt crowd.
No I don't. That's what you say. I suggested that mod invitations should be openly offered to non-maemo.org members as a gesture of cooperation.

maemo.org is what we call the community of people who care about internet tablets and Maemo.
maemo.org is indeed a community of people who care about internet tablets and Maemo. But there are people who who are not active in maemo.org, and the reason is not because they don't care about the internet tablets or maemo.

maemo.org isn't "them". it's you. you're part of it, like it or not.
Actually, I am a member of maemo.org. But I think maemo.org should remember that it is a voluntary membership and should drop the "you're part of it, like it or not" and other non-constructive attitudes.

You can always get a readout of the current moderators on the View Forum Leaders page.

All the great content in the world, doesn't get you past the headache Tim. You need Excedrin for that.

I am happy. Every browser I use to access ITT is faster with the new system. Colour doesn't bother me, and I come for the content anyway.
