No-one plans to scratch their device. Despite my best efforts to protect my shiny new N900, the front facia now looks worse after a month than my old N95 did after two years of hard use. All this happened in under a second when the headphone cable snagged on something coming out of a shop, dragged the n900 out of its nice soft pocket and sent it skidding across a concrete floor, face down.

This sickeningly left the metal suround scratched back to bare metal and the screen with two deep scratches. Now I'm looking for a screen protector to stop the stylus catching in the scratches when scrolling. If I can get a case that hides the scratched facia as well, all the better.

My advice is get a protector. It's too late after the accident happens and "Sissy" be damned.

Not so cheap after all, there at least.
I think a community shop would be the answer to that, if Nokia will not sell in small orders then we (the community) could club together to form one to broker parts.

BTW, there is a link to the service manual in the wiki, which tells how to open it and replace parts.
Can someone link this wiki please

buy a protector at amazon or anywhere else.
it's worth its money!
even the stylus seems to harm the original screen with little scratches which will look very annoying in sunlight.
and now: GO BUYING! ;D

and yes: stylus-use isn't affected by most protectors (:

I have to agree with you. I had the zagg full body on and was happy with it overall, but the orange effect was a little distracting. It was good, but since I messed up the first zagg front ( a few dusk bits, and marks from it sticking to itself) I figured I would send the zagg back and get another zagg (which I still will do). But I took a chance on the skinz and it's a noticeable improvement over the zagg both in feel and look. Most people don't realize I have a skin on it until I tell them. easier to install then the zagg and they give you 2!

So I would recommend if you want to spend the cash Phantom skin front, zagg on the back (they are really tuff'r) and sFbags sleeve as the best low profile combo.

BTW, having these on make the device more secure while on transportation or just handling it. I can't tell you how many time I've drop it on my face in bed...hehe not anymore.

If you don't mind the different textures that some of the protector have then I would say absolutely! It will get scratches not matter how well you treat it. So it a matter of choice, of what you find important I guess.

I highly recommend Clarivue. I went with the Ultra-clear option and I have been impressed! I've tried the Durasec and I hated it. After applying the Clarivue screen protector (which btw is very easy to do - check the video on their website), I have to say that there is not difference what so ever in responsiveness or how the screen looks. I highly recommend it!
