I am sorry if I did not follow the whole thread. See ALL the files does NOT require root, does it? Working on the files may require root.

You check the Green H to see hidden directories.

lol, you still had to install something to access root files, correct? How is that different than installing a file manager from the market? Also, rooting the G1 is just as easy as installing sudo. To take full advantage of the n900, it seems as if you have to be very familar with sudo and command lines. Which kinda sucks for us noobs. Android is much more user friendly IMO.
