Then do a:
Code:
apt-get remove --purge ruby ruby1.8 libruby1.8 iplayer-dl
apt-get clean
apt-get update
apt-cache search ruby
If not - you can do try to install it again:
Code:
apt-get install ruby ruby-gems
thanks a lot, that fixed the problem.
Cheers,
F

I followed the guidelines but the "apt-get install ruby-gems" failed because of missing authentication. It installed the packages only after forcing "yes":

Code:
apt-get install -y --force-yes ruby ruby-gems
But -again- the "gem" command says "gem: not found".

It appears that Ruby was installed under /usr/lib/ruby/1.8 (i.e.: not "optified"), while ruby-gems under /opt.

Then you have installed the version from the extras-dev repository and not mine. They will not work together with my other packages like gems or any of the extensions.

Do as Fry to be sure to have my version of Ruby.

This is awesome, thanks a ton for doing this.

What would be involved in packaging up an app created with your libraries (for public consumption)?

Hi, thanks for your posts, do you know how can I install rails? I've seen screenshots of rails running in maemo and I have tried a lot but when I run: gem install rails --no-rdoc --no-ri -V, I keep getting an error ow-crypt.h:18: ',' expected make: *** [wrapper.o] Error 1, I've install TCC, make, ruby-dev, libssl-ruby..
