Nokia N900/documents/
in filemanager is actually
/home/user/MyDocs/.documents/
in xterm. Remember it's case sensitive.

you have to use the terminal:

Code:
dpkg -i filename.deb
The location of the file is going to depend on where you saved it. If it's N900/documents in the filemanager then as mece said above it will be in /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/.

As a regular user, your home directory is "/home/user/". However, what you normally see in N900 menus is a little beyond that. Your "default" folder is "/home/user/MyDocs/" (capitalisation *is* important). What N900 displays as "Documents" is in "/home/user/MyDocs/.documents/" (note the ".", it's required). If you change to "/home/user/MyDocs/" and issue a "ls -a" command, you'll se other folders as well. It's fairly obvious which dot-something folders correspond to what you see in "normal" N900 menus.

OK. Right answer! But why not to put it at the top and assign all the tags: "Transfer deb N9" "USB"? It takes like five hours to find this in the forum[/web]

or in the FAQ somewhere
