Applications doing things like messing with DNS resolution are extremely suspect already.

Sheer volume of files stored on the disk may affect the directory seek times.
Seek times are not a factor on solid state media. Any application that could -cause- such a case would likely not make it out of devel. As the starter of this thread noted, he hadn't moved beyond extras. Everything else is up in the air as all bets are off with -devel.

Yep, the transitions were already flaky in the first place, so installing the plugin made it even more flaky. (Flakier? ) I'm now using the transitions.ini without the blur and edited it a little bit (wanted it to be even faster, although a bit less smooth) -- it's almost iPhone-like smooth without the blur, really.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Now time to learn some more. Im feeling ready for my first reflash :P I will be very selective and methodical as I load more apps on...
