btw.

I´m not sure if you are talking about this bug:

Looks like someone has made fixed hildon-desktop deb file. Dunno if it really works. Also i would recommend to set phone app to always in landscape so that there is no delay from rotation.

And to duplicate contacts problem i have used this:

I haven't noticed such behaviour. I am not denying it but not everyone has every bug you know... I had random reboots while majority had nothing etc....

@slender thx for the answer after i saw the youtube video about this bug i can tell you that this isnt the Problem i have. The screen "glitch" i dont noticed. The Problem is only when my N900 is locked by the slider or over the menue.

if it is locked and i get a call i see the Call for a second but before i can hit the answer button the screen turns black again. i need to use the slider again and then i have slide the screenbutton to unlock the device. Until this time i lost the Call.

I like my N900 well enough, but it still has major issues, certainly is not finished and it does not look as if Nokia will ever finish it.

I purchased this phone on the hopes that a company with its investors and private agendas wouldn't carry on support for this phone. As time has gone by i have found more communities putting work into this device. Even if there isn't much support from major corporations, it is my understanding, as a linux user that it isn't necessarily required to have a well run project. I assumed most of the people that purchased this phone because it was community driven and not company driven. Even the service providers don't like selling the N900 because of the things that it can do. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2356603,00.asp

You can agree or disagree with me, but i personally think that a larger community based support is better than a Corporate based support. Besides, most cell phone manufacturers only spend a few months supporting a piece of hardware anyways because they are concentrating on R&D on new equipment in order to make the end users buy new models every under a year later.

Well in Parts i agree with you but actually the Problem seems to be that Maemo Developers run away to other Platforms. I get the meego Mailinglists and there are some Discussions between official Nokia Devs about this Topic. The Problem is the Devs run away becouse they dont see why to put there Work into Maemo5 couse its dead in a few Months..

I am completely ignoring the trolling comments as anyone with half a brain will relaise there is much interest in knowing just what will happen as far as Nokia and the empty promises they made to us all.

Nitdroid is not the answer as it is an emulation and not a true OS in it's own right but also Steve has done an excellent job bless him and needs a lot of praise for his and his now team efforts.

Quit the stupid trolling accusations please they are just not needed and really ARE out of place on this thread.... thankyou.

OK so now we are left with the the question and does need some answers preferably from NOKIA .... WHAT IS THE FUTURE IF ANY FOR THE N900.
If you had read the comments in this thread - or indeed in this forum over the past few months - you would realize that 2 things are certain:

1) pr 1.3 is coming
2) meego will be installable on the n900 but will be supported by the community

While the dates and details around the above are fuzzy (it IS Nokia after all) they are both good news for the n900. Btw, Nitdroid is not an emulation it is a full OS which dual boots alongside Maemo. The featureset is not complete yet, but I am confident that it will get there.

Oh, and TYPING IN ALL CAPS DOESN'T MAKE YOUR POST ANY EASIER TO READ IT IS JUST ANNOYING.

Hang on your not making much sence here unless you work for Nokia.... "I purchased this phone on the hopes that a company with its investors and private agendas wouldn't carry on support for this phone" so when you buy a device you fully expect support to be ceased before the year is out..... oooer ok.

Yes i agree that a community based support could be better but only if it's members are competent programmers giving out competent apps etc unlike that of a corporate based support team made up of prof programmers etc.

The enthusiasm that was very much alive from the release of this device has drastically wained to the point that all there is left is the meager support from this community and that is now starting to take a dive !.

When the next device comes out from Nokia such as the N8 i am fearing the enthusiasm for this device will drop drastically from there on so where does that leave us N900 owners?.

So where is the proof of any updates in any way or form for the N900? can someone please provide this if it is out there?.

So far out of 44 posts on this thread NOTHING has been proven support wise for the device so is that an indication of the end of support from Nokia or is there something we are all missing here????.

Everything you said referring to the future is pure talk and hearsay so where WHERE is your proof????.

Nitdroid for your information will never be complete untill ALL drivers for every component is given out as free and open source and that is down to Nokia is it not ! so for now it is and will stay an emulation based on what is available at the moment untill that happens.

We really dont need fanism here we need PROOF so where is it?.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

I just wish I had the ability to read my kindle collection and ovi maps that could talk.

But I have to agree that it is bs to say this was advertised as and sold as a development phone.

Seems like for most, Nokia really let them down. For some it is the best phone choice ever (yes it is a phone) but not for most.

PR1.3 huh and just what good will that do when we all know Nokia have ditched Maemo alltogether for Meego?.

Please do figure out that PR1.3 would indeed be a MAEMO update lol.
