It looks like that solution requires some kernel modules which
most probably doesn't exist on N9.

vpnc works because it runs on userspace and uses (only) tun/tap
interface N9 provides by default.

Hello,

I also have the vpn9c (thank you for your great work). I'm in no way at a level of competence that would understand, but in regards to PPTP solution requiring kernel modules, maybe this will help?

VPN9C continues to do a good job on my N9 as far as the opening of web sites and access to all my devices in my home router's net are concerned.
But I got one issue that causes me certain headache:

My vpn server/router at home (FRITZBox 7390) is a multi feature device and is able to serve also as ATA and SIP server for VoIP which is -apart of being a router- is one of the mainly used features.

When my N9 is properly connected to my FRITZ via VPN9C I would like to use this connection also for VoIP calls. The outgoing call is initiated properly from FRITZ just as if I would use a connected DECT phone being at home. I can even hear that the called phone is ringing. But when the other side answers there is absolut silence on my N9 as well as on the phone on the other end.

I know from other forums that VoIP by SIP over VPN is of high interest for many users.
There is no audio problem when i'm doing the same with my 808 where the vpn client configuration is done by NOKIA's own tool.

Somebody please help me - I have no idea how to use this app.

I have a VPN account with Express VPN, and I know how to set it up on my Mac, and I've set it up on my wife's android device using L2TP. The problem is....in vpn9c - the fields have different names than what I'm used to seeing.

So, what information do I put into what fields?

I have a server address, a username, and a password, and my IPsec pre-shared key. If somebody could tell me what information to put into the following fields:

Gateway:
Group Name:
Group Pwd:
Usename:
Password:
Domain:

I would really REALLY appreciate it!!!

Thanks,
Jordan

Gateway: server adress
Group Name: try here user name, too
Group Pwd: IPSec-PSK
Usename: your user name
Password:yourPW
Domain: blank-nothing

Hi,
I tried that, but I get an error message:

The vpn client should provide "transparent" network connection
and therefore my first suspect would be to check what are the
differences between N9 and 808 VoIP clients (some NAT handling
things comes first to mind).

You could try to "debug" first the network topology between
endpoints and then packet traversals between those.
run at least ifconfig, route, ping & traceroute to gain some
initial understanding.
(In my network ping & traceroute goes nowhere -- probably
the vpn server drops ICMP packets to most destinations -- or
something...)

Tomi, first of all "thank you for coming back to this special issue". Unfortunately I'm way behind your level of knowledge:

How can I "debug network topology" between the tunnel endpoints N9 and my vpn server FRITZ?
Ifconfig, route (completely unknown to me!), ping and traceroute must be run on which device/PC? All on N9? If N9: please the complete comand line as I do have some basic knowledge of linux but am no expert - thx.

EDIT: SOLVED by changing one parameter of the SIP/VoIP configuration

FINAL THANKS AGAIN TO TOMI FOR VPN9C !!!
