Come on... Estel was banned for a good reason.

It's alright to ask why he was banned, and it's good to question the reasons. But accusing "the powers that be" of corruption and such without knowledge is very poor taste. At least question first and wait for the answers before throwing accusations.

I followed the discussions at the time and frankly I was amazed that he wasn't banned a long time before it eventually happen... and I'm glad we have that tolerant moderators.

That will make anyone who doesn't agree with being called stupid fan boi and in reply clicking that report link... result in woody ban??? Please elaborate, nothing hurts wiki editor more than being unable to exert their power...

I think that a person should be able to be banned for "disrupting the community", and I also think that Estel was certainly doing that. Complaints about the way things are run is one thing, but this went beyond that I believe.

So to keep things on track, we have a whole new structure now, so how about this:

1. TMO moderators/administrators can continue to ban and clean the normal spambots, etc... but when it comes to banning an actual user they must present a case to the Council.

2. Council (you know, the people we elected to run this community!) must vote on whether this ban should be done. Some portion (either unanimous or a high percentage) of Council must vote yes for the ban to be approved.

3. BoD is the appeal process. BoD is the check on Council, right? So this makes sense to me.

Typically, if you get a majority of Council agreeing to a ban, most of the time BoD is not going to reverse, unless there is some miscarriage of justice for whatever reason.

Guys, please, inform yourselves with the facts. i.e. - who is doing what. Who helps this community to overcome the hard times, who is just acusing others of being lazy and whatnot.

@Estel - please, stop it. No matter if you feel someone had acted wrong, this is in the past and you can't change it. You had good contributions, keep it that way, no point in keeping yourself offended.

To elaborate: people who now should decide would be - donators + council (if donated, sorry), now this is going to turn into a popularity contest... I'd suggest meritocracy (not on thanks on politics posts where woody gained all his, thanks for actual contributions, estel kills him in that regard, sorry)

What ?!!? To all the haters here defending who have offended some dozens of Maemo users : try to ofend other people face to face in real life to see the consequences. Being confortable in front of a computer is very easy.

The case is simple : somebody was reported (via "Report this") many times after offending many users. IMHO, the banning was too late, after making a lot of damage to the community.

You see no pattern, youthedead thanks on every woody post and vice versa... 5 people from woody/cssu fan boi club thanking all those great additions that woody made to this forum. Let me remind you the 'Who has problem with CSSU' thread. People who were posting OT - no thanks, people who came there not asked just to say: works for me fine 5-10 thanks... It's all the same popularity contest again...

You posted from the account, the system shows that, and you admitted it several times. You knew, from being Council, that the proper method to dispute this was to mail Council. You also knew Reggie's direct e-mail, having been on Council and having used it at least twice to mail him for Council matters. There was NO need for you to make another account to accomplish this. Yet still you insist on this lie.

You made a new account specifically to continue to post and argue after being banned for personal attacks and slander. You later accused Council (me in particular) of requesting and//or forcing moderators ban you, another lie.

Have you seen who the top funders for that have been?
Do you know who paid the filing fees to get the paperwork submitted, to start HiFo off without any debt?
Do you know who's paying the bills, right now, for the repo mirrors people are being directed to use as a backup?

All people you've done nothing but make false allegations against, and are now slandering as trying to "take over" the community. Without them, right now the community would be spending about as much productive time as those working on MeeGo and Tizen, for a much smaller target audience. All good work, but one of the largest complaints I've heard from those in the MeeGo camp is how much time they waste on the disorganization of not having a central home.

All the people above have been donating time and money to keep this community alive. The opposite of taking from the community, and providing nothing in return but lies, accusations, and excuses, which is about what I've seen out of you.

Nothing's stopping you. "If you build it, they will come." I personally don't think we need to re-invent the wheel. Spending money, a couple hundred bucks, on a vbulitin license was a bargain, compared to the man hours we didn't have to try to filter the data here into some other FOSS solution. (It was looked at as an option...)

If it makes you feel better, I personally donated enough to cover the entire cost of the license, on top of other funds I'd already donated to start HiFo. I was the main "champion" of that path, and said publicly that I would fund it if that happened, and kept my word. You can verify this by talking to anyone on the board, or by simply viewing the donation list.

So yes, please community. Vote with your feet. If you want to follow someone who's told lies, attacked others, and left when criticized for making choices that would get most people fired in the real world, follow Estel to this mythical place he wants to lead you.

I think you got me wrong (as you got wrong all of the points made on that thread). So I'll try to ask the same question in a simpler way - do you think I am stupid because I thank woody or you think I am a fan of woody? Or something else? Because I thank to the posts I found reasonable and helpful. Please, elaborate.
