It would fit better to the center icon.
Question is whether to keep center icon as well. Its different to what has been used by others (Android, GNOME, KDE), as in https://www.materialui.co/icon/my-location . I suspect its since this version is available as icon-m-dot in Sailfish icon set (https://sailfishos.org/develop/docs/jolla-ambient/). However, for new users, it could be a confusing icon.

Well beeing differnt isn't beeing wrong . I don't think that the icon we use is confusing. At least not more than the other icons used be Android, Gnome and KDE. For me it works quite well and it did from the very beginning.

Also I have a suggestion for nearby search, but i think there is still potential for improvement:

the 2 transparency steps in row1 will give more freedom to design further icons so i am rooting for row1.
Nav-from and Nav-to option without further hassle is another strong point.

@Fellfrosch, right, the centering has some options since the icon has 2px spacing itself due to keeping same size of the lines with search icon.
Will post all options later this day.

I like your nearby search. lets see how it fits with row1.

+@rinigus, will look into compass options. I heavily dislike the linked "my location icon"... Our current icon gives more information due to easy readable red/black north/south.

@mosen Maybe you could alter the navigation icon from row three, setting the marker on the beginning for navigate from and to the end for navigate to.

Interesting, I was thinking exactly the same thing. It would be absolutely brilliant if the icon could be an И for ltr locales and an N for rtl locales, although someone whose main language is written in an Arabic script but whose country drives on the right would have to confirm which of the two makes more sense to them.

Edit: N for navigation, И for iti/itinerary (I guessed that these were etymologically related, looked it up, and apparently they are!), it all works out.

I met the icon without compass, the one that is used for moving map to current location. But I am not pushing for android/gnome/kde like icons

When comparing Row 1 and 3, Row1 looks quite good on a phone. Haven't tested R3 yet, just suspect that it will have rather too small details at the used size (and in Kirigami, unreadable). But if everyone is inclined towards R3 navigation icon then we surely will choose that.

For SFOS and use in Menu as well as on Pages, we will need a second set of icons which are thinner. As it is, R1 option looks very bold when compared to a star and such. At the same time, Kirigami (GNOME/KDE) use bolder versions, if my memory serves me right.

- I don't understand the icon Nav from Rows 1 and 2.
- With regard to Row3 is the starting point always on the left on the map? Yes, it's possible, the Earth is a ball :-)
- maybe use target in gunsight? or helm, steering wheel?

Working on Nav-to / Nav-from / ltr locales, sfos and kirigami variants of row3.
That kind of "clicked" the most i think, see the sfos variant:

But bare with me, i am literally working 16 hour sushi shifts and do the inkscaping in 5-10 minute pauses to relax...

@mosen, nothing to criticize this time from my side These Icons are all nice and I think understandable.

I played a little bit with the map icon for navigation:

Banner time!

These meet the 3:1 requirement for kirigami.
For Sailfish harbour it would be 2:1 (540x270), resize is trivial since the original images are bigger.

I am with the first one, mainly because the serpentine theme is perfectly in line with the new route/nav icon but maybe you are in for some funky ride in the second draft

Images are from pexel and would not need attribution for personal and commercial use. Nevertheless i added info and think it is fair to mention the photographer somewhere if one is choosen.

Back to icons. I picked up on the N and hope it is even clearer now with one dot removed and marker located at expected "start" position for westerners.

Sorry @Fellfrosch, you posted the Z version while i was already doing the kirigami and sfos versions from the N. I see you did a slight white spacing around the marker. I picked that way to seperate the marker from the road up for the kirigami icon as you may see.
Most rewarding was that the kirigami and sailfish version fell in place quite nicely.

Also for @nthn proposed И itinerary the svgs now only need to be mirrored. Should i provide svgs or is it possible to mirror svg on qml side and save bytes?

The kirigami versions are 45x45px exports.
Maybe a little smaller could also be ok.

The search icons handle now has the exact same rounding as the grid-balls in all versions.
