2 years, despite EU requirements wasn't followed for the Nokia N900. The faith to do so for the Nokia N9 is more than likely wasted despite anything they've said.

Nokia hasn't yet switched completely to "anything but N900" has it?

Even if it has, my points about the N900 support being quite different to the N9 remain.
"If" if the N9 sells better, & "if" Nokia doesn't try to kill it sooner in spite of that.
And the N900 actually 1st came out, as early as August/Sept didn't it?

*i.e. because of having to wait many more weeks than initially intended, customers are offered a N8/E7 as an alternative.

I look forward to assessing for myself if that really is the case, at least for me.

I still think the "risk" is less, based on what I outlined in my prior post.
If you look at Nokia's actions/statements past & present, it seems less likely this time.
Of course no-one knows which way it'll go, so I can't claim that with absolute certainty.

There are already cases where N900 owners have been asked to accept N8/E7 as a 'replacement' for a faulty N900 returned within the 2 year warranty period.
I don't see any reason to believe this won't happen with the N9.

I don't have to want to open the calendar app everytime i want to see if i have an appointment.

A light calendar app* will be dev'd or is underway (can't recall), that'll sit live in the multitask view.
One that can link to a much more complicated/resource-heavy one if needs be. Just as good as any widget.

I sent my N900 in for repair earlier this year(February-March) and I got an N900 back. I live in the US.

It takes longer to perform simple tasks or view information in at least some cases. This is partly due to the lack of homescreens and widgets, to be replaced by a half-baked solution whereby applications can display state-dependent information. Also, there is too much reliance on the iPhone-like grid of icons. I hardly ever need to go to the application list in Freemantle.

Isn't the live apps screen basically just a homescreen with widgets*, I dont get what the problems is?
Yes in some ways it's a backward step from Maemo, but certainly not compared to iOS or stock Android.

Yeah why not make the application list also the multi-tasking list, & thus reduce the homescreens to 2.
You could make it clear which apps are running, by making them brighter or similar.
But I guess such an approach would bring some of it's own usability problems.

What don't you like about the grid of icons in the application list, how's it any diff to Maemo?

*better in some respects, because it's the actual app, not an abstraction of it.
