7" Seems like the worst size for a tablet. Realistically it is too big to comfortably fit into a pocket and personally its too small for me to justify carrying it around when I have a smartphone.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab 7-inch begs to differ with your assessment--I carry my Motorola Droid in my left pocket along with my keys--which never seem to scratch that amazing Gorilla Glass screen--and my Samsung Galaxy Tab in my right pocket along with my wallet--and it still fits fine.

You must have big pockets then: in my pocket my n800 barely fits, anything bigger surely wouldn't.

People might not notice the N800 in your pocket, but they will notice a 7" tablet.

I have a Huawei S7 7" tablet. Fits just fine in a back pocket (slacks and jeans), granted you can't sit down with it in your pocket, but it fits just fine. It will also fit in the front pocket of my work slacks fairly easily. Again, sitting would be difficult.
Being summer, I also wear cargo shorts, and it easily fits in the leg pockets on those, several pairs can even be buttoned closed to secure it. Sitting isn't a problem then.
Putting a 7" tablet in your pocket isn't unrealistic (provided you aren't wearing skin tight pants). Standing / walking are just fine. Sitting can be an issue, but I usually pull it out and use it / set it down in that case. People might not notice the N800 in your pocket, but they will notice a 7" tablet.
