Just kidding, of course. But seriously, $599 off-contract seems like a very reasonable price for a well polished system that has 3G access and smartphone-equivalent power management.

Just the other day, at a meeting, it would have been a *perfect* time to have a tablet device. Not only would I have wowed my prospective clients, but it would have been useful to share some data, look up information online, and even to record notes (assuming of course I could use a bt keyboard)!

I just noticed that the Tab slightly smaller than the Barnes&Nobel Nook, and the Amazon Kindle, and as such it is perfect for it's carrying cases!

This is a neat application. It basically puts up a small web page that pushes keyboard input directly to your Android device for text input! This would make it quite useful (and simple) to share keyboard input when at a computer, without needing a second keyboard!

Seems a bit too expensive. But I guessed it would be. Was hoping it would be a bit more affordable and that it would be considerably cheaper than ipad.

If these rumored prices are correct, then it is actually cheaper than the 3G iPad.

The 16GB 3G iPad sells on Apple.com for $629. The price of the 3G goes up from there -- $729 for 32GB and $829 for 64GB. It should be worth noting that a 16GB microSD can be had for $49, and a 32GB microSD can be had for $89, which yields a much cheaper price for a similar capacity Tab (though for 64GG you will be forced to swap cards for lack of 48GB microSD).

Of course, the WiFi iPad is available for $499, which is what most people consider to be the 'price' of the US iPad, oddly forgetting the 5 other variations. While the Tab is $100 more than the iPad, the price is *very* competitive considering comparable options (ie. 3G).

Now the UI just needs to catch up.

It seems that Samsung isn't playing a price-war game -- or choosing parts in an effort to minimize price. This seems similar to Apple's strategy, which works quite well. People will pay slightly more knowing that they are getting quality and something that will provide a great experience out of the box.

Also consider that Dell is selling the Streak for $549. It too is 3G capable. The $50 difference for a high quality device 7" 1024x600 screen seems quite reasonable!

These devices could likely be sold for $250. However, as market prices go, I don't think that the Tab is too costly, even reasonable.

It seems as though samsung is confident in the products experience, enough so that they don't have to severly undercut the competitors' prices. I just hope that the experience lives up to this!

Perhaps the community can help me out with this problem:

The Tab is small to be sure, but still requires a bag. Now I would hate to carry a full bag, and like the idea of travelling light, though I don't want to have my hands occupied (this implies a shoulder strap). A small bag would work well, with a huge but... and that's that I'm not nearly man-enough to wear a purse!

Are there any stylish, masculine, small bags that aren't purses?
