I just meant to can file down one of these and not have to worry about wrecking the originals. This just clips on to either the data or charger cables. That way should you ever have to send back the phone and cables they will be original and not make it easy for anyone to say the mod made your warranty void.

while majority here complains the stability of the port, mine is the teeth. there are times that's it's already plug but not charging. i have to push it a bit so the device can recognize that it's been plugged...

the micro usb seems very weak or just maybe some people here removes the cable by using too much force and blaming it? just don't shake too much when removing the cable and it will be ok...

I asked this question already but since I was not convinced before here it is again-

My usb port looks and feels perfectly fine. No wiggles whatsoever. I had a pen tip, pencil, finger all poking at it and it appears "very" sturdy and solid. I am even surprised how this could come apart.

Now the confusing part is, there are times when I plug my charger and the phone doesn't start charging immediately. I have noticed this when I very gently slide it in. If I am not trying to be this gentle, the phone appears to recognize and start charging without any problem. Am I just being paranoid (or too careful) with the usb port issue or you think there could be a real problem with it which is not apparent now !?

Have any of you had issues with the usb port even when the port looked fine?

Whether it's covered by warranty is still unclear, and the general replacement time seems to be 3-4 weeks (unless you bought it in-store and they're prepared to do a straight swap for a new unit).

How do I go about taking Nokia to the small claims court in the UK over this issue?

I took my Nokia N900 into my local service centre to get the USB port fixed (broke less than 2 months after the device was first used). It was returned a week later not repaired, with the only explanation given that the usb port was 'ripped off the board and tracking lifted'.

Given I have not mistreated the phone in any way I refused to accept their explanation, and raised a service call with Nokia. They have advised me to send it back (via their freepost address), but I have no faith the outcome will be any different.

If this fails I will write to them demaning a replacement within 28 days, and if I do not receive said replacement will start legal action.

Has anyone else had to go down this avenue yet? What was the outcome? Any other advice?

Regards,
Andy
