Oh man...
It is so terribly beaten.
It is a piece of art ...even still.
If I got my hands on it...
I don't think I would attempt to restore it to what it was...
Restore the body where I could to as close as possible and affordable ..sure..
The guts of it...hm..I am hooked on electric for the last ~nth years now...so I am biased...(also the day of petrol vehicles are numbered now)...so I would turn it into an electric..
Cheaper in the end than a full restoration...
..since the shape its in...that is a complete freakin rebuild.

I think it was used as a front yard garden planter for a few decades...

Speaking of cycles...
Next week my new one should be at the shop...
I should be breaking it in shortly...
160km range and .20 cents to fully charge it.
My current one is the same in saving.
The only difference is ...this one is for summer driving with the slickers ..and a bench seat ..and it is sand coloured

I'll be surprised if next month theme is not something related to Transportation

But all these posts are the right landscape for this month competition 'cause I sure can see a pattern in these posts (as someone already spotted earlier). I have thought how cool it would be to make a bigycle with electric motor on one like this. No need to register bicycles.

But electric and bicycles don’t provide you the proper vibrations

Sidenote: Got no bike license, and don’t want one, but I can understand the passion for them

I bought four years ago bike just because I waa offered one with 300€ and I had just sold two days before one of my artwork with 500€ so got extra cash. Didn't have passion for bikes and had not thought of buying one. Didn't have a place for it even when I bought it and had only tried a moped once as a kid and didn't have license. But the biker world where I got into has been a nice occasional excursion from my daily life which has add some things which I did not have in life - and danger and adventures too. I don't drive fast and don't like to take risks but it is enough that I ride that bike which I have fixed myself. I'm as good with engines as I'm with linux and maemo - I don't know how but I can try.

I’m not talking(writing) about the biker world specifically, everyone sees something different in those machines. Let’s take me for example, I like speed, fast acceleration, g forces, that’s why I’m super tempted to buy one and never will.

..think twice about danger and adventure, most of the times it’s not fun until it’s over and you may get used to adrenaline rush and make it even more dangerous

Yet another T3 here! Mine is a syncro panel van w/ DJ engine. So I guess we have a pattern here! (only to justify this amount of OT)
I don't remember who took this particular picture and which device; probably my girlfriend with her Huawei. So not for the competition..

There are SO many how to's on the web of guys who have taken a motorcycle and torn out the engine and all the guts that are just useless weight...and either made a faux gas tank top ...or cut the tank resealed and painted it ...so that between the missing guts and the empty space of the tank are nothing but battery.
Just need a good hub motor...
A good hub motor will deliver the torque you want..
and pretty much zero can go wrong..
next to no moving parts..
enclosed sealed hubmotors are fabulous.

Most examples I have seen...
the end result is a cycle that has a top end of 70km an hour ...some higher...
It is well worth looking in to for a beautiful classic bike like the one you posted.
That way you can enjoy the restoration part more than the flippin' rebuilding ..and avoid horrid costs in the process.

Just make sure you do it right.
There are only 2 things NOT to be cheap on...
The hub motor and the battery/ies
By top name ...high quality.
Don't find a bargain.
You'll pay ...badly for that....in the end with having to replace them.

My cycle ..fabulous..
3 years now..
riding every day...
spring summer autumn and winter..
To and from work and on tours..
Zero repairs
And the fact I take care to make sure I don't bottom out the battery charge...or overcharge it..
After 3 years continuous use I still haven't lost anything off the top of the batteries.
The rare time ...very rare ...I fully charge it ..it still charges up to 100%
of course they are Panasonic Li-Ions ..
warrantied fully for 3 years ..
with a life span of 10 years..
and when I wish to upgrade them or recycle them ..for new ones..
They have a policy of checking how much has drained off the top that is unrecoverable..
and they rebate you the difference on the remaining charge off the original cost of the battery ...toward the purchase of your new battery...
They refurbish it and resell it.
I get a hell of a deal off my upgrade battery.
Works for me.

Good thing too..
Since 2 Batteries (about 50 pounds of total weight in the battery compartment) are 1/2 the cost of the cycle.
But every other year ..they make and sell a battery that is twice as light, twice as good, and twice as cheap as the last battery they made...
So it is a win no matter what.

Just don't sit back waiting for the batt tech to get cheaper...longer batt. life, further distance, etc...
Or you will be old and grey by the time you realize that the tech is always going to be like that....and you should have just done it while you were young enough to enjoy it.

Just whatever you do ...pick smart...pick quality ...and with good incentives.

Way of the future anyway guys..
Petrol and diesel are going to go the way of the dodo...
with all the legislation that so many governments are enacting.

So take your fav classic cycle, car or truck and convert it...can't beat the take-off of electric..
Instantaneous acceleration...wear a neck brace..
we are talking whiplash ***** here...
and can't beat the cost of mileage compared to petrol and diesel.

Ddark man...
I am sure you have enjoyed bicycles...
that feeling of travel and enjoying the scenery ...being "in" the scenery...part of the environment...
a motorcycle...hell...even the lowly scooter..gives an absolute feeling that surpasses the joy of the bicycle.
The only thing I do not like about cars and trucks is the sitting on a couch ..staring out a rectangular screen and not being immersed in the environment.
It is a divorce from reality.

The only time I deal with adrenaline is when I ride in traffic...
Then it is 360 watchfulness ...since I do not trust 4 wheeled drivers to be responsible.
It is just sane defensive driving....
and it is less an addictive feeling as it is like a first person shooter game...and you are always up against bigger foes..and you are always looking ...planning ...and if necessary executing an escape route in a heartbeat ...at any given moment.
It enforces one to be aware, alert, use one's prob solving centers of the brain.
Its good for body mind and soul ...all around.

For me where I live...
I don't deal with traffic much....
It is rare.
a car ...or two...perhaps 4 on my touring of Gabriola.
So it is just a carefree joy of enjoying the drive...as slow or quick as one wishes.

Van. Isle is different...it is busier...and so I only take major roads when I really ahve little other choice to get past them to enjoy roads more quiet to rip down..

And the weather here has been stellar the last few decades here.
Why ...for our northern rain forest ...today we got rain for 3 hours! a drizzle..though...
we have had perhaps 3 or 4 days of rain since Christmas ...thanks to our changing climate...(and we used to have rain solid from September to the next June...and then have a couple dry months ...then rinse and repeat...so it doesn't bode well for our ecosystem here...but...)
It sure as hell is fabulous for going for a tour on the cycle every day...

And electric...is fab.
You are completely aware of every sound around you...
the cycles are just that silent..
So quiet you can hear autumn leaves crunching under your tires..

If you got one now...
I promise you would sit back for a few days ...and spend the time kicking yourself for not having gotten one years and years ago...
