IMDB works fine on my N810. Maybe an Opera specific problem?

Here's my experiences with the various Nokia tablets. I rushed out to buy a 770 as soon as they were available. I was pretty disappointed. I found it to be far too slow at browsing (Or anything really) to be any use but it showed enough promise that I bought a N800 shortly after release. Combined with a data plan for my phone it became the one portable device I used almost every day on the train ride to work. Upgrading to a N810 with keyboard was a bit of a no-brainer for me.

I find that some sites slow the device down a bit but most render with no problems. To be honest I'm not sure what some people are expecting from a device this low powered running on an Internet designed for high spec PCs on broadband connections. I'm amazed we get as good an experience as we do.

One tip I'd like to offer to OS2008 users for a more usable browsing experience is to install the Adblock Plus port. I'd consider this essential for browsing over a mobile phone data connection.

There are some things I'd like Nokia to fix. The other system apps for a start. The email client is a mess. Video playback shouldn't be advertised until they fix the bandwidth issue. Some people get the idea that the tablets would make good PMPs. They do if you don't mind reencoding all your videos. Not ideal. I'd like to see Nokia focus more on a core app set. Make the unit more versatile out of the box.

I can't believe this thread is still going...

I almost invented swap space.

It's a very consistent crash: Always on opening the main page first time, but it won't go belly-up if I hit the "abort! abort! abort!" button before the site has finished loading.

It's kinda weird how one gets accustomed to buggy behaviour. And no, I haven't sent a bug report to Opera. Mainly because I don't like them and don't want to help them...

Better off just using an ad-blocking hosts file and a custom userContent.css file, as AdBlock Plus seems a little heavy on the CPU.

Erm, and because everything related to Opera on maemo is WONTFIX. . . .

Host file adblocking just isn't effective enough for me I'm afraid.

Well... yeah, but writing that wouldn't have been nasty at all.

IMO besides the PMP aspects, which personally don't consider so bad because when I bought my N800 never tought in the IT as specific PMP, the way to provide a more versatile experience out of the box is provide a compatible MSOffice viewer/editor pack and ability to play WM based streams (of course, based in my personal way of use)...

Wow, talk about pack mentality.

Some examples of sites that don't work for me...

http://www.gizmodo.com works on my 770. It never loads on my N810. Whenever I sign in to here or any other VBulletin/PhpBB forum, it doesn't remember my credentials.

I'm no longer running AdBlock, using Privoxy instead - out of habit of editing it's preferences instead of using the hosts file, which breaks my usage on http://www.dealnews.com and http://www.dealighted.com since they use abemf (or something like that) and other referring services that are usually blocked in most proper host lists anyway.

The N810's GPS is a tacked on function. I'll wait for the software to mature. It's not there yet.

The N810's user agent browser string shows up an 3.0a1 - alpha - if I remember correctly. I'd say that's not quite ready for prime time yet.

The e-mail program does NOT support GMail's IMAP functionality; much unlike I was told here. That was either a misguided answer, or a lie. I'll classify it as an misunderstanding.

And to install Skype, I had to dot upgrade to .19, which removed all of my settings, apps (installed), and I'm going to have to do so again it seems each and every time. I thought that was going to be fixed in this iteration of the OS?

I can no longer add sub-categories in the user menu. I can't control the font size without hacking the system. Or applying a new theme.

This definitely feels like a beta release to me; but I expected much of that. I didn't expect maps to suck that much though. Nor did I expect the e-mail app not to be updated as much either.

Oh, and the included case sucks.

The fact that somebody isn't as happy with the N810 as some of you people apparently are shouldn't be that hard to swallow.

Why don't think the present N810 OS2008 isn't beta?..just because is on a N810 instead of a N800, in which case is named officially beta?
