Unfortunately without swap the ability to multi-task on the device basically goes out the window as it's nearly impossible to have any amount of browsers open and not run out of memory

And as far as I can tell, you can only put swap space on the internal memory card.
?? you can put the swap file wherever you want to (of course
you'll have to partition and format the memory card etc)

I believe you will need to edit it from the terminal.

You can also edit it by launching an editing function within emelFM2.

joe, my guess is that either you're using a slow homepage (e.g., gmail) or Adblock. My browser loads in exactly 10 seconds. But I use Google (plain old Google search page) as my homepage (or the last-accessed 16), and I dropped Adblock because it slowed the browser so much. (Replaced with hosts file and FlashBlock; other users like Privoxy, which I haven't tried.)

Privoxy is another process running on your N800, I like to keep few programs running as possible.

As for me, I use what you use with the userContent.css

You mean

(1) you use hosts and FlashBlock and userContent.css; not

(2) hosts and FlashBlock within userContent.css; nor

(3) userContent.css instead of hosts and FlashBlock

--yes?

And if yes, so do I, and brontide has good userContent.css tweaks and (esp. for this forum) so does Benson

Anyone wanting to do this, see Post #49 here for starters. And somewhere there's a thread started by brontide where he posts a zip file of his userContent.css (I need to look at that still). BTW, without extra tweaking of the tweaks, the one thing that userContent.css tends to screw up if applied globally is Google Maps.

I use hosts & userContent.css. I have a grease monkey script which seems to do a better job than the flashblock extension port for Maemo.
