Worked like a charm.

Using the hint previously posted in this thread, I was able to make my new Zagg Sparq charge my N900. It took a few tries. I think the trick is to plug the cable into the battery first, then to slowly insert the micro USB end into the N900.

Well finally got it all working. I'm using 2 nokia adapters. The usb to mini plug and the mini plug to micro usb. Don't recall where/when I picked up the usb to mini plug, but I recall getting it cheaper than the ridiculouse price nokia wants for it. Color me a happy camper!

Anyone see the altoid mint tin charger kit? seems to me it would be easy to cross the usb pins on that out of the box so any cable would work. Ready made has the kits so I will try it and let people know

I would be ideal if a vendor would create a new N900 backcover with a larger capacity battery (built it) which would supply more power.

It will grow tiresome to carry around an external powerpack of considerable weight and the connector cable.

Which companies that already provide these type of battery solutions need a tap on the shoulder to help the N900 out?

is working on it. Ask them to design the back so that the n900 can lie flat and level, leave the shiny off the camera surround, and maybe give it a decent flip out stand.

I've sent them a nice email asking for them to please make an extended battery for us n900 geek owners who don't care about bulkiness and are willing to pay for stuff.

The cables are as follows:
The usb to mini plug is the nokia ca-100
The mini plug to micro usb is the nokia ca-146c

The ca-146c I got from china via a link earlier in this thread for a dollar and some change and the ca-100 I picked up a few years ago for around 5 dollars.
