Amazing how so many people are already chucking a mini tantrum over this. How can Nokia provide Voice Navigation for free on the N900 when it dosen't exist,
Whats the difference if Nokia had not come out with this annoucement, as Sygic for Maemo will imminently be released.

First, I fully agree that the Ovi Maps isn't (ahem) very good at the moment. But that's not the entire story.
First take a look at http://wiki.maemo.org/Navigation_Tools. You'll find some of the tools support the route generation that I suspect you're wanting.
Also try out Maep, a nice port of a Google maps viewer with very fast startup. I think it's only in Extras-testing, so you'll need to enable that repository (http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras).

Amazing how so many people are already chucking a mini tantrum over this. How can Nokia provide Voice Navigation for free on the N900 when it dosen't exist, and is currently under development, and as some one has already mentioned N900 will get this is due course. Remeber all the other Nokia smart phones run on Symbian OS, which has allowed Ovi Maps to mature over time. Whats the difference if Nokia had not come out with this annoucement, as Sygic for Maemo will imminently be released.
