but the question remains, the app connects using xmpp methods, but for those it needs to be authorised on fb, which doesnt happen.

so i think the app needs an authorise button, just to redirect to the facebook page so the user can give authorisation to xmpp

doesnt look hard from the example code

Don't think you have to authorize facebook xmpp use, I never did. You do have to make a username though. don't remember exact steps

Hey guys my Facebook chat stopped working and my Ovi aswell I can no longer sign into those chats from my N900. Any ideas, maybe it's due to an update?

If you logged in from behind said router, no, this cannot be the cause of whatever problem you are having.

The jabber/xmpp protocol, as used by Facebook, Google Talk and many other applications, uses port 5222, as assigned by IANA for this protocol. XMPP is NAT-friendly.

I have no problems using jabber/xmpp from behind a router or firewall, as long as said router/firewall allows the outbound traffic in the first place. You should never need port forwarding on a router to support a jabber client, the only reason you would use port forwarding on a router is if you were running your own jabber server.

I have had absolutely no problems with the facebook support on N900, but maybe that was because I enabled XMPP on facebook the day they launched support for XMPP. I use it in a number of different networks/environments without any problems.
