I think all three are doable; let me take a look at implementing the last one. Most feeds I've been looking at seem to do a good job of marking down the time of publication...

How to get linguine fullscreen i believe the status bar is wasting space when not needed a transparent or invisible icon can do . A long click on the topbar should toggle it on or off

Hmm. Fullscreen isn't too hard to do, but I kind of figured that the status bar is a useful item here, particularly as I'm using the stacked window mechanism pretty heavily. It seems nice to be able to quickly click that return arrow at the top right corner to immediately return to the list of feeds... But I can give it a shot.

looks less intrusive that way to me if you want the icon there. if they don't have an icon, what could you use instead? A general feed/rss image or maybe a clock/calendar.

thanx, i ws just trying to use efficent use of available real estate we only have 3.5 inches and we cannot afford 0.25 inches to be lost it should be used initutively:
i say make the hildon bar transparent alternatively buttons can be transparent in fullscreen mode or think something..

feature request ; long click to open a feed in new invisible window for nasty feeds not that important butttttt . ability to hide selectrd articles and thorough offline cacheing of whole news feeds for later reading sort of like a download button which downloads entire rss feeds

Yes, remembering what has already been read and caching media locally are definitely useful abilities! I will need to see how much work they'll require to implement, though. Linguine is tip-toeing towards being an actual RSS reader, but I don't know if I can devote enough time to it for that to really become the case...

Version 0.2.4 of Linguine is now making its way up to extras-devel. In this version, user-defined collections of newsfeeds are finally possible. A new XML element has been added to the newsfeeds file, the "collection"; it currently has two optional attributes, "frequency" and "media". Frequency can be "hourly", "daily", "weekly", or "other"; media can be "audio", "video", or "text" (with "text" generally implying html content). There are two child elements, "name" (which is displayed in the scrollable tab bar at the top of the screen), and "requiredTag". You can have as many requiredTags as you want; a newsfeed will have to match every single required tag to be added into the collection.

The "newsfeed" element has been modified a bit; the "category" attribute has been eliminated, and the "tag" child element has been added. Each newsfeed can have as many "tag" elements as you want.

It's probably better to take a look at an example XML file to see how this looks:

And yeah, still no gui for managing either newsfeeds or collections. My apologies.

May be superfluous now users can define feeds, but the British Forces Broadcasting Service programme Sitrep is gives some very good analysis, with a lean towards military implications and particularly on NATO and/or British interests. http://bfbsradiositrep.libsyn.com/

(NB Sitrep = situation report, for thos who don't speak militarese)

Interesting! I'll add it to the default list. (And yeah, I'd love to add other good podcasts, if folks out there have some suggestions. )

facebook rss feeds would be awsome as soon as the gui to set up feeds comes in
