Three socks - no reaction.

So you better use one sock in winter instead of gloves

BTW I finally could transmit my face from the N900 to the Tab, but not vice versa, and it was quite unreliable, but it's a start, isn't it? The key was using pbxes.org as everyone who rtfm already knew
I'm really impressed that you actually *have* a pair of gloves! Does it snow that much in Sicily? Are you in the mountains?

Way to go on the Video conference! You're almost there!

Hold the phone!
http://www.droiddog.com/android-blog...iple-carriers/

This is for a Tegra 2 Motorola 'device'. If this is a tablet (as I suspect it would be), motorola would probably do a good job of it, meaning specs to rival other industry tablets.

If it meets these criteria:
1) 1024x600 res or above
2) 7" form factor
3) 3G access
4) reasonable price
5) Android

... I will have to serious consider it against the Tab! Tegra 2 would likely be better for an embedded Ubuntu, though I would have to read reviews to compare.

If Motorola's current efforts are any indication, I wouldn't get my hopes up about running any non-Moto-blessed OSes on a Motorola produced device.

At least Samsung lets you swap out the kernel (do they?) which would make installing Ubuntu possible.

Actually you can install chrooted Ubuntu inside of android. It's been done on many handsets (including the G1), though uses VNC in absence of a proper X client!

It's the best of both worlds really, and an incredibly cool hack!

EDIT: Here's an example of Ubuntu running locally on the Nexus One:

Some ideas are just make too much sense. Here's a smartphone stand that would probably work with the Tab.

http://newpcgadgets.com/products/sma...nd/index.html#

It's not as useful as a built-in kickstand, but at $4, it's an easy sell for something that is cheap and does the job well. Finding cheap stands online has surprisingly proven to be challenging at best!

It looks as if information is beginning to leak leading up to the Galaxy Tab North American launch:

Nothing really new, but this indicates that Verizon will be carrying the Tab.

It seems people are still upset over the speculated/leaked price. I wonder how Samsung will fare at this price point?

Oh yes the rumoured price points with the US carriers is putting me off totally - so much so that I am thinking I will just switch to a largish Android phone (HTC EVO) as my tablet use on the move and beg/borrow my wife's iPad at home for couch surfing. Till maybe a good MeeGo tablet without these outragious prices arrives or the Galaxy Tab wifi only at a reasonable price.

I know Samsung feel this is better than an ipad because it has things the ipad lacks such as camera, voice calls (but not in the US it seems). However, I think they are insane pricing this similar to the ipad and they are going to lose a huge amount of sales as a result for a number of reasons

1. Apple have huge strong hold on mind share and the average consumer picking between an ipad and the tab would go for the ipad because it is made by Apple and they would not care less that the tab has more features.

2. Ipad already has tons of tablet specific apps and the app store has more apps than android in general.

3. The tab is half the size of the ipad. Many people will see them next to each other at the same price and feel they are being cheated paying the same price for something half the size which they would expect should cost less to manufacture than something twice as big.

This thing could have been a really really huge success if Samsung had not gone and messed up the pricing. If this had been reasonably priced they would have had two sales from me. As it is I am not even sure they would be getting one.

I think that is almost becoming a survival, if me-go is NOT going to be ontime, as usual. Just browse the active users of the forum, there are currently less than 20 are old timers. Even the general is NOT active any more, and we have only one general in this community

Sorry if this has already been discussed.
http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/electric/carryover/10/13

A Tab with 2 usb ports running Android for £180. It might be ideal for those who can't afford the price of an iPad or Galaxy Tab.

And here's a not so good review:
