Maemo 5 was a disappointment when it initially came out. Besides multi-tasking it could not compete with iphone OS, and most of the reviews gave it great potential but rough at the edges. I am afraid that Harmattan will be the same. It will not be disruptive for sure, as the novelties will be in the minutia, not in the overall experience. So forget about it being disruptive in one form or another.

Moreover, NOKIA continues to be involved in way too many projects. They should focus on few good things, and pull out of the ideology that producing 40-50 models variations on the same buggy stuff will not work. WP7 will help them with the software, and this was an excellent move by Elop. I am buying Nokia and MS stock, as i think they will rise 5 fold in 5 years, not because of Meego, but because of MS/NOKIA alliance.

Meego came too late on the scene. Its a dead platform.

Bah! Humbug!

Nitpicking, but logo and speaker hole(?) should be vertically centered.

One more try. Sorry for this image spam, but I bet here are more people like me, who like to speculate with the look of the phone.

There have been a lot of comments made about what disruption means and there's one area I have not seen covered: battery life.

Nokia has always performed very well in this area, but I daresay that whoever delivers a device that can be used heavily full-time for 2 or 3 days without a recharge will be truly disruptive. All other things being equal, this would cause people to change brands.

I've read over the past few years that technologies were being developed to address this need and sooner or later they have to leave the lab and get into actual use. Hopefully sooner!

EDIT: an article I wrote a while back that touches on this-- http://tabulacrypticum.wordpress.com...ile-arms-race/

Actually, I would have been happy with battery hot-swapping. Ugly, but no need to spend that much time in the lab.

they have started to even ditch cold-swapping and it's not that batterylife has improved very much lately. Hot-swapping will stay a dream IMO.

That's my fear. And as I understand it, the driving reason behind fixed or sealed batteries is to shave micrometers off the product size. Is that correct?
