you can do it by changing lcd density from 160 to 200 or 240 but i prefer 240 because with it most of games and app working in full screen while with 200 some games crash and not being in full screen

to know how read this topic which describe it

when booting droid on my n900, there is no flash10
keeps asking me to install it

and i cant exit the web browser, i have to turn phone off

would love the overclocking info too
tried for over an hour to get that IRC helproom chat link thingy to work
and something called a 'java plugin'
but gave up due to not knowing what im doing with that!

can the overclocking info not just be posted on a forum somewhere?

and how do i access/change the boot anim:

lock switch is back, cam button should take you back to home screen

ill pm you the overclock info.

flash you have to install by hand

download a file manager from market (any will do) then go and enable unknown sources in settings apps then open the file manager and go to the /extras folder and tap the file to install reboot may be required after install

Hi all devs.

Great work so far, the current public release of Nitdroid is very usable. Thank you for the many hours of work that all of you are putting into this project. It means a lot to many of us!

Can you please give us an update on the phone support? I think having the ability to make calls will probably mean that lots of members will actually move over to Nitdroid as their main OS regardless of the bugs. For me, I'm not concerned about 3G or using the cell modem for Internet access since I just use wifi when I need Internet access however the ability to make and receive calls and sms's is very important and missing that functionality prevents moving over to Nitdroid.

Again, thanks for all the effort, it is really appreciated from us non-developers.

I'd like to second the call for an update but with not so much importance on how close you are. I just want to understand if you've made much progress. I understand how ridiculously difficult what you're trying to achieve is and I know it cheapens the work to a degree if all anyone asks about is an ETA.

I'm also one who will likely migrate to NITDroid once it's completed but I'm in less of a hurry - I just want to do my bit to support the guys behind this, particularly dj_steve.

Also, just a query relating to the post I've quoted - if you crack 2G connection, is 3G/modem pretty much done too? Or is there a significant difference in getting both functioning regularly?

Thanks all, hope to hear back from you, and chucking all my support behind you!

I am not sure why everyone wants to have phone support. If you want to use Android as your main OS then why did you buy a N900 in the first place?
Personally I don't want to get phone calls or messages on Nitdroid because I will loose those information in Maemo (the main OS!) and it makes it hard to follow a longer conversation.
Only 3G support for browsing would be nice but again: If you don't use Nitdroid as your main OS then you will probably use it at home where you normally have WiFi.
So better 2D GFX support, in game accelerometer and more compatibility features (too many apps/games are crashing currently: http://nitdroid.com/index.php?title=Addsoftware) are more important than phone support in my opinion.

One day I will use andorid, another maemo5. I like to have many options and phone is the main feature I use on my n900. I don't want to be 'deaf' to the world just because I'm on android

Although it's a bit of a digression - I bought an N900 because I thought it was an excellent bit of hardware. I love its capabilities, I love everything I can do on it, I love its features and its storage capacity. But from a software/utilities viewpoint, Android is much better supported. It would be nice to have the option to access all the applications that lots of phone users have, without having to give up the N900 hardware, which I truly do think is excellent. As someone above me pointed out, it would be good if this was possible without being dead to the world - hence the desire for working phone support. Also, I think the Android UI is a little snazzier personally, and more customisable through themes and the like. It's all down to personal choice but I'd like the option of more software and a cleaner UI, while retaining this hardware.

PS: While running NITDroid, does the phone lose its ability to act as a Linux device? Just curious...
