Anyway, today I received a screen protector I bought of ebay, no idea what quality will it be but at least I know roughly how big it is considering I`m nowhere near the big nokia stores to check it out.
Me too, got the Nokia cover for it as well and it's not that big, just thicker than most. Think if I hadn't already got them, I would have jumped ship on N900 and MFD.

Just before i go, i'm gonna post one more thing i think we might want to consider. Regarding the potential recall. Now i cant remember who said it but someone claimed that if there were a recall then nokia would have to make it public. This is not the case. That only happens when the product is being recalled for health and saftey reasons, ie might burst into flames. If its not a dangerous fault they wont make the recall public, I know this because were i used to work i was managing the warehouse and delt with ALL the product recalls. some where made public by the manufacturer, for instance a zanussi dishwasher that could potentially catch fire was recalled and zannussi made a press realese regarding it but other products with a manufactering fault that is not dangerous simply get recalled but no press release is done by the manfacturer. I'm hoping this isnt the case but if it is at least we may well all get devices with working mics!

I feel the same too, it is now a month I have been without a mobile

Beginning to feel the same. Actually, I am beginning to feel a bit N900-ed out, so much information absorbed, so many reviews read, so many You Tube videos watched, so many forum posts, so many webchats/emails/phone conversations with MPD.

I am not so desperately in need of a phone that I can't wait, my trusty E90 is still working perfectly well. If MPD can't get it out to me this week/early next week, I might consider cancelling and seeing what the competition has to offer in the coming months.

Dexter says:
hello?
Webshop Customer Help says:
How can I help?
Dexter says:
I thought I'd double check that my N900 was still on track to be deliverd by the 3rd Dec as per the email I received. I pre-order back on the 28th Sept.
Webshop Customer Help says:
okay
Webshop Customer Help says:
I just checked for you
Webshop Customer Help says:
we are really not sure at the moment
Webshop Customer Help says:
our head office are in talks with Nokia at the moment
Webshop Customer Help says:
we are waiting to hear back from them
Dexter says:
Do you realise the your website still says delivery during late november? Also, wy are you in talks with Nokia, if I'd order tens of thousands of &#163s worth of phones I'd want to know where they are?
Dexter says:
Also, CarPhoneWarehouse are reporting they will have it in stock by the end of the week.
Webshop Customer Help says:
Yeah we would
Webshop Customer Help says:
thats why were trying to find out
Webshop Customer Help says:
okay, as for Carphone Warehouse
Webshop Customer Help says:
they are a different company
Webshop Customer Help says:
we are in talks with Nokia trying to find out where they are
Dexter says:
exactly, you're still claiming exclusivity, but you don't know when you're going to get them, CPW could have them before you. I think the way MPD has handled this is disgraceful, regardless of any incompentance on Nokia's part.
Webshop Customer Help says:
if you wish to write a formal complaint please email webshop@mobilephonesdirect.co.uk
Webshop Customer Help says:
is there anything else i can help with?
Dexter says:
I feel that I have been mislead and lied to by MPD, who claimed to have close links with Nokia, you can't be that close if you're struggling to even get a date for delivery of them!
Webshop Customer Help says:
as i said sir, please email if you wish to make a formal complaint
Webshop Customer Help says:
this is just an enquiry line her
Webshop Customer Help says:
*here
Dexter says:
(just typed a message that never got to you - i had this problem the other day so it's quite likely you've typed responses to me that I have seen)
Dexter says:
I have emailled a formal complaint and get a standard reply that is litterally copy & pasted "script" that others I have spoken to have also received.
Dexter says:
So when can I expect to know when my phone will arrive?
Webshop Customer Help says:
Well as you can imagine we do have a number of customers asking the same questions
Webshop Customer Help says:
in order to get back to these customers we have got this to make the process more efficient
Dexter says:
So when can I expect to know when my phone will arrive?
Webshop Customer Help says:
my advice would be to keep trying to get in contact with us tomorrow or in a couple of days
Webshop Customer Help says:
we should be sending an email out once we konw
Webshop Customer Help says:
*know
Dexter says:
bye
If CarPhoneWarehouse do start stocking this before it looks like MPD will get/send them, I think MPD will lose a lot of pre-orders!

I have already brought stuff for the phone as well and although the communication from MPD could be better I doubt we'll be able to get it from elsewhere any faster.

That’s it.. i think im done

I think i will cancel – shall see how i feel when i get home. It’s not probably 6 months until the next release of another maemo device (well – delayed release) – so why get one now im thinking – i could be 30 quid a month richer this way and wait for the new lovely impending after Christmas gadget’s that come out – after seeing the mess they made of the n97, im starting to worry about the mess they are now making with the n900 - at least with contacting their direct suppliers

they need to give up MPD and Nokia UK and actually get some operators to supply these phones themselves - ie. direct through vodafone/o2 shops - I understand they didnt want this to be a smartphone - but they are kidding themselves by including GSM functionality.

and just for a final kick in the teeth - rather than announcing future support for maemo 6 on the n900. They instead announce a new device in the pipeline for next year (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/11...ia_maemo_plan/)

they really have taken the biscuit this time, looks like I may hang onto the n95 for a few more months on my sim only contract. Or just buy an n900 from a shop and get an o2 pay as you go sim (now offering unlimited net and texts for £15 top up a month)

- sorry for rant, but as much as i knew it would happen - i really hoped this time i'd be wrong and this would actually arrive - i cant see myself getting a 3RD! PAC code.
