Shipment #1: Shipping Soon
We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed.

Order Placed: October 17, 2009

Will keep you all posted

EDIT: glad I didn't order from Nokia yesterday for an extra $100!
Still says "shipping soon"... This is different than amazon usually is but hopefully this is just a 24-48 hour thing like people say.

Amazon's been on the up and up with me for my whole order. I don't think they're doing anyone dirty. When they dropped their price I sent them an email and they gave me the $529 sale price. I have good faith they'll setup everyone who preordered before the holidays...

From my observations of all the blog activity, the problem appears to be that Nokia should have been more cognizant of the ever increasing quantity of pre-orders and made arrangements with their manufacturer to keep up with the demand. What could have been a great release for a flagship device was nothing more than a fizzle.

My order changed to 'Shipping Soon' about 3 days ago, and still is in 'Shipping Soon' .....

I'm even gettings dreams now that my order has 'Shipped' .. !! .. I wake up like 5 times every night, and check my mobile for any new emails ..

But seriously, does it *really* take this long to go from 'Shipping Soon' to 'Shipped' ... !?!?!?

Yeah it's funny when people say "fraud" or "scam"

It's even funnier when people say they're deliberately doing this. As if they have any vested interest in that. I think they really don't know so that's what they tell us.

As you said I think the problem is Nokia not shipping enough stock and not letting Amazon know when they'll send more.

I can't believe that people are getting so belligerent and even making death threats against people... WTF??

Amazon sucks big time. How can they let a company like Buy.com beats them. Buy.com has N900 INSTOCK right now while Amazon is still Not yet released and we don't know when it will be instock . What the heck Amazon, luckily I already cancelled mine and went with another one. It will be here tomorrow. Funny thing is that the package is at the local facility right now and just waiting til 2morrow so they can deliver. They won't let me pickup >.<

Ok, so as soon as I posted that last message, there was a knock at the door...Now while I'm happy that my N900 arrived well before the estimated 12/5 delivery date (It was shipped from KY to PA) I'm a little annoyed that the USPS driver drove off and left the thing without any sort of signature.

Although I do not think it is at all Amazon's fault that we do not have our preordered phones (I blame Nokia), I do find their CSR/customer support to be intolerable.

Honesty is the best policy in all relationships, particularly Customer to Business. I have been treated as though I have no capacity to reason, almost as if I were a 4 year old demanding candy.

Suffice it to say, I have placed my order with Buy.com, and if it ships before Amazon, then I will cancel asap.

I do not have much faith in Datavis, but I would regret not trying, and if they steal my business from Amazon? Good, because Amazon could have easily kept me by just simply responding to my questions as well as they could, even if they don't have all the information I need. If they are too big of a company to respond to 10 or so individualized emails from an unsatisfied customer, then they need to hire more CSRs who can think for themselves, in english (or japanese or spanish, hey I'd take anything over cookie cutter responses).

So, yeah, i'm paying about $100 more to get it from Datavis/Buy.com, or at least seeing if that goes through first.
