SENA has made a vertical pouch available for the N900:

It's quite nice, and a perfect fit, but doesn't provide much access other than the headphone jack. The belt clip is somewhat vertically fixed - not completely racheting as stated on the site, but with some movement. The latch is magnetic, which I was initially weary about, however it doesn't seem to be causing any issues or problems.

I've asked SENA if they will be coming out with an UltraSlim for the N900. They're looking for some indication of demand before heading up this route. I'd prefer if companies would take notice of their own market, but maybe drop them a message if you're interested in an UltraSlim. I'm hoping to get one for those pants-pocket out-and-about days...

More news about magnetic clips. It seems that Nokia can fix that and the issues could be more important.

It does have a magnetic closure at the front but that can be solved by placing the screen towards your body.

In that case you're risking triggering the magnetic sensor for the back plate being removed, which will cause the memory card to get mounted/unmounted randomly. I'd avoid any case with magnetic closure altogether.

I don't think you're offering very good advice when it comes to magnetic latches.

There may be SOME cause for concern regarding magnets, but to say all magnetic cases are problematic is an over-generalization. I've checked the market for N900 cases and to find a proper case without a magnetic latch is severely limiting.

Perhaps magnetic latches should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. I'd say go on... try a magnetic latch if you can tolerate the potential risk however big or small.

The magnetic latch on my SENA case is fine. But I guess I like to live a little dangerously sometimes

I personally use this Case Logic case. It fits the n900 like a glove! I'm not sure if I could have found a better case, I really love it.

Edit: it comes with a large belt loop, so you can use it with any belt; also, it has a vertical position.
