Good, but it will be more informative if you will share dump itself.

I get:
root::
So?
Thanks for help

Same thing happened to me. Then I did the dump and within it I found the following parts referencing lock_code;

ConF....lock_cod
e...........Az|I
J,......12345...
."..

ConF....lock_cod
e.......(...Ab+
i_2.....ThBQDAAC
qcPbs...........
............

Since 12345 doesn't work, I assume the hash that has my lock code is ThBQDAACqcPbs . I would be grateful if someone could post me the code for this hash.

Edit: won't have to bother you at all in the end. Managed to decode the hash by the help of a friend. the code I was looking for was 12174

Hi,

I have just purchased a used N900. I have tried to use the echo command to retrieve the lock code. It prints out root:: as the result. However, the default codes do not work either. I have tried 12345, 123456, 54321, 654321, 000000, 00000. But all were in vain.

I would like to ask for help on such problem.
Thank you.

UPDATE: I was able to reset the lock-code thank to qwerty12. Many thanks.

Make sure you have rootsh installed before, you can find it in the default application manager.
Then do this exactly
Step 1:
Code:
sudo gainroot
Step 2
Code:
echo root:$(grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1|tail -1):
