Oooohh, but I still need one!
Hopefully, by the time I get one in april, the price may have dropped slightly.
I really can't see anything on the horizon that excites me as much as the Tab and talk of dual core and 2Ghz phones doesn't entice me much yet because there are bound to be teething problems and the battery life will surely suffer and anything Meego related still seems far away.
The Tab does everything I want with a nice big screen and a lovely form factor and I just can't seem to resist!

Yes, I can appreciate that the price is a little too high for most, but you'd be hard pressed to find something that has the same capability for less. It's the 3G that raises the price, though we are all aware that 3G-less devices can cost much less.
But if you look at all that the Tab can do, it looks positively cheap!
I'm going to be using it for TONS of purposes.
- ebook reader
- netbook replacement
- music player
- movie player
- home theater remote
- mobile phone
- mobile terminal
- productivity software (with my BT keyboard)
- navigation
- camera (yes, I will use it as a camera)
- gaming device (psx emu + android games)
and these are just the *category* of uses. When I consider the numerous actual uses beneath each category, the list is staggering. For me, the Tab is actually far cheaper than buying separate devices to fill all of these uses and will do it far better. Smartphones are nice, but the tiny screen makes it very uncomfortable to use for extended periods for nearly any task that requires the screen (for me anyway).
I think Sammy is being competitive with the iPad which is something that makes a lot of sense. By all indications, the Tab offers a very positive user experience and should turn a lot of heads. The added camera, android market, small size, may also put a lot of competitive pressure on the similarly priced iPad.
It appears Samsung knows what it's doing with this device.

The best news of the day? Android 3 is coming!
http://www.droiddog.com/android-blog...bread-surface/
It's still rumored, but here is the skinny for new features:
- HARDWARE ACCELERATION! Yep, android is soon going to perform buttery smooth across all modern applications!
- REDESIGNED UI! This is a big one, but the Android experience should change quite drastically to be much nicer.
- UPGRADED APPS! The built in google apps will be enhanced to reflect the new UI as well as better features (eg. video in google chat!!)
Thankfully, Samsung has gone on the record to confirm that the Tab will be getting the next version of Android.

Seriously.. I like the android model of software iteration. It's not perfect at first, but improving quickly to something exceptional.
It seems that MeeGo has been in development forever, and when you consider Maemo development, it's almost been half a decade.
Still, better late than never, I guess.
