Sounds cool (especially like the thought of powered usb host; not to mention the power of the thing, and the new DSP ) and decided that I'd prefer to pay the extra for the Pandora, which is portable, rather than a Beagleboard.

Will also be good to get back into OpenEmbedded and building images for the beast (I do hope the BT, Wifi, PowerVR drivers are open enough to allow this).

Only thing it lacks is a camera... N900
Great

Looking forward to your work

Would be interesting to see how cheapskate people are....
Any poll? like
* I ordered one
* I ordered several hoping to sell them at a higher price when things run out.
* i ordered one and donated to the dev fund
I have personal issues with the developer fund. In any case, I'd rather donate directly to developers who are doing stuff I want.

It's not because I like OSS that I should also be a communist and give my money to benefit others...

I donated as well as ordered. And I ordered the TV cable and the pouch too, and a card or something (hey, it was late and things were barely loading into the browser).

Duh. What were you expecting. More dev funds than gp2x sold? I'd like to see the device being reviewed. I don't like preordering or buying new devices at their launch date. But maybe this is a great present for your kid at xmas...

Is there a place that shows how many have been pre-ordered?

I would say the forum, but it's severely slashdotted ATM. I can't get in at all.

from openpandora.org frontpage
We sold 2000 Pandoras in 6 hours even with the server totally besieged.
...
We are quickly looking in to if it is possible to increase our planned first batch to 4000 units.

Heheheh, I think they thought 3000 would be a generous number.

This is totally going against my "wait until the early adopters have drawn some blood" philosophy, but I'm seriously thinking of asking the wife if I can buy my Christmas present a little early. Sounds like I might be too late, though.
