They won't, but the point is that Maemo 5 essentially specifies that all apps can always assume an available internet connection. Nokia won't be releasing a non-WWAN version, because the likelihood of the user "failing" to provide a connection is much higher, and they don't want to undermine their spec that way.

It would be great to have two devices: the N900 (no keyboard, WiFi, Bluetooth) and also the N910 (hardware keyboard, GPS, camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, HSPA).
I really would be displeased if they did split it like that, as I want different combinations of options. The physical (keyboard, camera) features are highly orthogonal to radio (HSPA) options. But as I said, I'm pretty sure they'll all have WWAN (HSPA; possibly a WiMAX version at some point).

Ah, I knew about the developer discount, but since I don't qualify I just hoped you found an amazing offer somewhere.

Speaking of this, is there any place left beside ebay to buy an n800? I recently sold something on ebay and was going to buy an n800. I found out I could get 30% off a buy it now purchase on ebay using live search cashback. I found an n800 as low as $105 with the discount. But now that I finally got paid for my auction, the discount dropped to 8% and the cheapest unit is $160.

Amazon.com, but they rarely, if ever, get below 200 USD there.

I got a used n800 on eBay for $154, with a 2GB card and a "jacket" protector. Works great. I'm very happy.

$419 @ amazon.com in June of 2007. I sold an IPaq and a Toshiba laptop to pay for it.

But, I think I've gotten my money's worth.
