I seen that pic johnzkin, but couldnt really tell what anything was, I found this site this afternoon.

http://i.gizmodo.com/5162584/always-...yline=true&s=x

Even has a video of a bit of the OS in action so Im starting to think this is more than vaporware.

Oh WTH!? I've had my request in for a touchbook already way back when it was first announced, and GIZMODO gets theirs first!?!? Geez, Touchbook hasn't even contacted me. Augh. Sounds like I need to bang on a few doors.

The way the article sounds the hardware isnt completely finalized yet. If these things wind up being half as good as they look Ill definitely throw down 400 on one.

Yup. being able to run my choice of Android, Mer, Ubuntu-ARM, or their linux dist. on it would be pretty compelling.

While I wouldnt say that this is a direct competitor to the tablets given its size, if I get this and its as good as it looks, Ill probably forego getting the N900 (or whatever it will be called) when it is released.

I wouldn't say it's a competitor either. The N900 is a pocketable, this device isn't a pocketable. But, it is an ultra-mobile, a tablet, a linux box, and an ARM system, so on those levels maybe it's a competitor.

Seeing as how im not experienced with linux, outside of the tablets, with its base linux os, from what we know at least, what if any applications will be able to be installed on it without installing a completely different os? Will apps from any other linux distro be able to be installed on that base os?

Judging by the video they went to the company the way the guy demoing the unit was talking. Im really optimistic about this, on the 3 internal usb ports throw in a 64gb flashdrive, and a usb gps dongle(if able to be used with the os) and a 3g dongle(again if compatible with the os)...or 2 64gb drives and the gps...this thing would rock! Just wish there was a way to have more than 256 mb of ram....this is just unacceptably low these days in my opinion give us 1 gig at least.

its the PoP issue. if they went for a laptop size memory module, it would increase the size of the board, taking up space now available for the dongles.
