"A rewrite of ZSNES in C" is called snes9x (well, not, but you get the idea -- it would be such a different beast it would probably not share any of the features. iirc only around 30% of the zsnes code is C ).

Wtf? And what do you expect me to buy, the Pre?

I would say exactly the opposite. The builtin apps might try to send all your data to the WWW, but at least you are free to do an app as featured as the builtin ones to replace it.
Considering the ratio of geeks wanting all his data on his own devices is much bigger in the free software world than in the consumer world, one would believe the tablet is the logical decision.

Yeah... that's kind of why I didn't say SNES9X... because it's not ZSNES and someone asked specifically for it (though as znes, something that drives the devs NUTS, lol)

I'm specifically talking about the built-in apps... the apps which most casual users would be using.

So... shall we go for strike 3?

Either way.. just look at how many options a user disliking the cloud has: Maemo, a OS called "WebOS", another one from a certain big "cloud services" provider, the iPhone, and loads of featurephones.

Save for the featurephones, Maemo seems like a good choice. I wouldn't criticize it.

Oh and Augmented reality (I'm interested in researching this actually)..
You need a digital compass for that, so don't hold your breath waiting for those apps...

Using the gps could be nice too.
There is an app for Symbian that does just that, but using the cell ID for positioning instead of GPS.

Kind regards.

Would it be possible for an app that would be able to change the IMEI that the N900 broadcasts to the network? For example, if I wanted to change it so the at&t or T-Mo network would think I'm using my old 3650 or 6600? I think there was a method for this for S60 awhile ago but I have no idea if it still works or not in regards to fooling the system.

Has S3 like standby been mentioned before?

Or even better, if you change the battery something to reload all your previous apps and web pages.
