Erm, what does how "open" the system is have to do with bringing an emulator over? Last I checked, the development tools were open...

I play Total Annihilation on Linux with the Spring RTS Engine. I'm not sure if it could run on arm.

Oooh, Stargus sounds goood
Also Total Annihilation is classic, would be nice if the Spring engine can be made to run on N900.

[edit] After thinking for a moment, Total Annihilation on N900 level of hardware might be quite optimistic hope... And the Spring engine is probably optimized for x86 hardware, so compiling it for ARM and getting proper performance might not be possible.

Well, I can live without TA if I can get StarCraft a

[edit2] Seems like the Stratagus engine Stargus uses has other mods that run different games. At least Wargus runs Warcraft 2.

Out of curiosity... could we easily use games/emulators made for the Open Pandora device? Both devices basically the same hardware after all...

Shouldn't be a problem. Actually I think few programs/games originally made for the pandora are already in the maemo repositry.

Only thing I could hope for is to have Dosbox running at 3500-4000 cycle speeds.

That's still not going to be enough for such games like Gabriel Knight or Return of the Phantom, but it should be close enough to play the music background for most games released before 1994 or so without choking up.
