That is what is causing confusion as MPD specifically said on their website "exclusive to OUR flagship stores" which make it sound like they are one and the same, which clearly they are not.

If MPD run the London Flagship Store (which I presume not based on information so far) then why would it get it before the rest and pre-orders? If they do not, then why the hell do Nokia have two different kinds of retail outlets, one which is run by Nokia and the rest run by MPD?
MPD flagship store is Southampton in the marlands centre

Why anyone trusts Mobile Phones Direct is unbelievable. I will only listen to info coming direct from Nokia themselves. It saves a lot of unnecessary bother.

Yes. Nokia run some "Flagship stores" which is the London store and a Heathrow store; these will be the only two getting the N900 before December. The other Nokia stores (known as Nokia partner stores) are ran by MPD, whose main store is in Southampton.

Basically MPD have got it before any non Nokia store has. I wouldn't be suprised if MPD's relationship with Nokia has had a hit after this fiasco.

There is nothing to be confused about. But I'll put this in numerical point format just in case

1) Nokia in the United Kingdom can be found at this address *http://shop.nokia.co.uk/* It's flagship store can be found here *http://flagship.nokia.com/*

2) ANYONE WITH A WEB CONNECTION CAN CREATE A WEBSITE CLAIMING TO BE WHOEVER. For instance I can create a website right now called

MAEMOELITE.COM

And also claim that I have the exclusivity on elite maemo apps. Doesn't mean I am genuine does it?

3) http://shop.nokia.co.uk/ State that all their products ship from their Euopean Warehouse. Not just the N900 but every product that they have available to order on their website.

4) http://shop.nokia.co.uk/ staff told me that Orders are being packaged as we speak.

5) Nokiaretail & MPD have shafted you

I was laughing with the young lady (Hannah) about the promise of a dispatch email. I said I'd have burned all my data-plan before the device arrives by checking for email every five minutes on my current phone.

I got the impression that Hannah was relieved to find someone asking about the n900 who was neither angry nor abusive.

ok... I actually have very good news for everyone! I just got off the phone to Nokiaretail (information for contact can be found in their website... nokiaretail.co.uk) and asked about the confusion between nokia.co.uk and nokiaretail.co.uk. I got told that the date we got given (3rd of December) could and probably will be pulled back because they are waiting for stock now. I also got told that nokiaretail and nokia.co.uk or nokia whatever is all part of NOKIA so they all will be stocking same time.
The guy said to me that there is tooooo much interest on the phone but dont be impatient, he said, people who ordered already nomatter weather it is from nokia.co.uk or from nokiaretail probably receive their n900's same time.
Actual words were "if you hear anyone owning the N900, you will probably receive your within 24hours.

I hope this clears some confusions and puts a good smile on peoples faces... specially ones that ordered from Nokia Retail or MPD

(They ARE waiting for stock anytime and London will get it first, then Reading and Manchester...)

Ah, I just don't believe anything that anyone tells me anymore re when the N900 will be shipped to customers. I honestly consider I'd get more accurate and trustworthy information from star-gazing or reading tea leaves than relying as gospel what a customer service staff of Nokia/MPD/Nokia FYC imparts to me.

If there's one thing this whole debacle has demonstrated to me (other than never pre-order from Nokia.co.uk/Nokia Retail.co.uk ever again) is never expect too much to begin with...

Thanks for finding that out, that really is good news...particularly as I ordered from MPD and recently got the dreaded 'shipping 3rd December' email. I will remain cautiously optimistic - always aware that things might change in the giddy world of Nokia business practices - and hope to see my N900 by the end of next week. But if it doesn't come...so be it...I am developing a quiet zen attitude to all this now..

Well, according to comments on this thread:

- Nokia.co.uk have never heard of Nokiaretail.co.uk.

- Nokiaretail.co.uk (owned by MPD) claim they they and Nokia are basically all the same.

But anyone can claim something without it being true.

Draw your own conclusion...

For now, I'll trust Nokia.co.uk and they have said they are shipping to pre-order customers today and on Monday, (and that they are not the same as Nokiaretail.co.uk and MPD).

We'll know early next week if that's true.

i have actually called up the Nokia Store you might find in your town... "http://www.nokiaretail.co.uk/stores/index.htm" you can find all contact details here including addresses if you dont believe me lol these stores are the ACTUAL "nokiaretial.co.uk"
The nokia store in Regent Street is the flagship store of nokia (which is still one of the nokiaretails) BUT it is operated by NOKIA itself (same as the nokia store in heathrow).
So all Nokia Retail and Nokia and Flagship Store is all same thing but run by different devisions on Nokia.
I hope this makes things more clear... like i said, addresses are at the link I gave you, phone numbers and e-mail, just pop in the store and ask
