I have just committed another build of Vulture's Eye to the Extras-Testing. This version includes the bugtracker URL that points to this forum thread, to satisfy overly pricky members of the community. You can vote for its promotions to Extras here:

I'd like to second this vote! The choice of using 2D graphical tilesets would be great

IIRC, the desktop version of Vulture/Falcon Eyes supported those, (and even a sort of ASCII overlay mode, which was different - and better than - nethack-console)

Fiddle with the config file (but do it carefully). You may well be able to enable this mode. Personally, I never needed it: there is a console version in the repos for those who need it.

Little lost on the keys, but is it possible to somehow remap the key for "prying doors open" as I have not been able to get it working,or have I just missed something crucial information along the way?

But, all in all, greatwork, possibly in future this kind of things could be done for Angbands and its many variations?

You should refer to Vulture's Eye web site (search with www.google.com) for this. I have not made any N900-specific changes there.

But, all in all, greatwork, possibly in future this kind of things could be done for Angbands and its many variations?
Probably not: the Vulture's Eye codebase only contains adaptations for Nethack and Slash'em.

I don't know what you mean with "prying doors open" (is it the same #force command that you'd use on chests, for example?), but I usually kick doors open (beware not to kick in shop doors!).

(A while ago, haven't checked the latest version) I had to go into the options to turn number-pad on, so that the kick command would be available from the "k" key. And I had to set this option every time. It didn't stick...

edit: And by "it didn't stick" I mean that it doesn't stick within the same game that was saved and restored. And that is still the behaviour now. I just checked. An option such as "rest on space" does stick around after a save/restore.

edit2: The number-pad option not sticking is no biggie, though (in fact, maybe it is a feature, not a bug). I should look into setting it in the conf file. Thank you very much for this port!

Console and 2d tileset are rather different things.

Plus, just having a 2d/ascii map doesn't mean that you need to commit to the text-based menus.

Vulture's Eye can provide the best of both worlds! (Simpler graphics: ascii or 2D tiles AND a nice user interface with sane button mapping and mouse support).
