is that total space occupied by the app or space taken up in rootfs?

The file system may be corrupt... Try running "du -hsx /" and see if the total agrees with the amount df shows used for the rootfs to get an idea of what actual used space looks like.

@romanianusa: du returns disk space used, so compare against the used column of df output. They should match, or at least be close, unless the file system is corrupt.

Actually, du is likely to be far higher than reported by df, due to the filesystem compression. Mine reports 355M from du, and 190M used from df.

Considering the compression mine pretty much match (unless i'm reading it wrong?)
Code:
Nokia-N900-42-11:~# du -hsx /

edit : FInally managed to get Storage Useage installed. That flagged up that there was still a memory card showing up as /media/mmc1. The card was removed last night. My trouble started this morning. I deleted the file contained on this phantom card, the card then disappeared and i have my rootfs back!

CHeers.

Good point - I forgot about the compression. I'm not sure what method could be used to figure out disk usage that factors in compression, to compare against df to determine if fs corruption has occurred. I guess there may be no easy way to tell if there are fs issues at fault when it seems impossible to free up additional space on the rootfs.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but uninstalling stuff that was taken from Ovi Store before it was officially open, might free up some space in rootfs. It seems that not all of this apps were optified. I managed to free up about 15 MB by doing this.

BTW, WikiHow seems to be the worst offender. By uninstalling it, I managed to fee up about 12 MB. Yes 12 MB! Not 1 dot 2, but 1 and 2. However, I think there is something fishy here. Maybe it uninstalled some library I'm not using any longer. Which, I don't know. It cannot be Qt, since I have other apps that use it.

There is now way WikiHow can use that much space. But the fact is that after removing it, it freed 12 MB from my rootfs, so it must be some other library.

Remove the BootScreen video also free your MB in the rootfs. I moved the NOkia Hand Shake out and keep the customize one in there.
