And you're left with... a phone that can play games. A dumbphone and a PSP will solve the problem in half the price, and likely do it better.

Though I admit it's easier for the parents to just buy one gadget that does everything, and kids who don't have an iPhone are probably getting bullied for that already.

i didnt realize it at first, now i understand. Multitasking is an API not a working feature applicable to all applications in Iphone OS 4.. Rather app developers will have to add this feature in their applications using the API.

so not every app can multitask, its not a built in feature. How would you know or remember which apps do multitask and whch dont. This is a whole lot of BS from Apple. Boy, they blew it.

yep, only certain kinds of activity can be backgrounded. And apple will probably be policing the use of those APIs to make sure only apps that have a "legitimate" reason will use them.

It's actually more than that, but I understand that you're just looking for a punching bag So I will just leave it at that.

As for OS4's 'multitasking', their main aim seems to be to save resources (cpu, ram, power). If their next phone (which will stilll be Cortex A8 based) gets significantly extended runtime due to their convoluted 'multitasking' scheme, then I'd say they've achieved their aim.
