this looks very promising. I've had the same idea for a long time (but more in a "space saving" implementation) - but without coding abilities, it never happened.
One thing I can't see - does the desktop widget show online status of the contacts ?

Not yet.... Haven't figured out that one yet... All the skype/google talk/ ... (other services in general) will have to wait on me figuring out telepathy I am afraid.

This version of MyContacts looks very promising!

The idea is perfect - I am sure everyone is trying to use different ring tone for different contact- this is one of the best decisions so far.

One additional idea - is it possible to make window of the widget smaller or bigger - eg. when you want to use only half of the screen with your app?

awsome idea, and looking very promising. only one feature i didn't see mentioned it the info for the 'online' status ... this is something i could clearly miss since i used it all the time to have a short look at whos 'online' and whos not ....

maybe a feature request?

Great app man, appreciated. Would like to change the font sizes however, so a guide for modifying css please.

I haven't had the chance to write more about it yet but you will find the files at /home/user/.mycontacts

Please post some screenshots if you create something different.

Desktop Applets are not supposed to be resizable according to the UI guide lines. I would need to create a "setting", something like 5x3 or 3x3, ...
