The reson why you are getting the penguin upon connecting to pc is due to the battery not being charged enough. You need to take the battery out, plug it into the wall charger for at least an hour. (It may begin the boot loader without the backlight on, but this will eventually just turn back and you will get an orange light and it will charge)

Do not turn the phone on.

After leaving for at least an hour try plugging into the pc again WITHOUT TURNING PHONE ON FIRST. I kept doing this and it took me ages to realise why it wasn't working.

When it then is picked up by the pc you can use the flasher commands. I used this for the first time yesterday and managed to work it succesfully, so it can't be that hard. There is a good readme file on it and there has been posted up already the exact thing you need to type in to flasher.

Back in buisness! I managed to reflash to Nokia default kernel, getting me out of the boot situation.

what I did (WinXP SP3):

First download flasher-3.5 from this page and Install it.

Second, go to this site and log in, then download the "RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin" -file. make shure you move/save this file to the same folder you keep your "flasher-3.5.exe" in.

Next step is to start the flasher3.5.exe, connect your USB-cable to the N900 whilts pressing "U"-key on it.
The N900 is supposed to be OFF while your doing this.
Keep pressing the "U"-key until your N900 shows a Nokia screen with the USB icon in the upper right corner, and XP has confirmed that a device has been connected with USB.

You can now get all h4xxor and stuff with teh flasher-3.5!

Run this command:
flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin --flash-only=kernel -f -R

Sit back, think of a new, cool, hacker name like "crash overide" to call yourself, as the flasher-3.5 works its magic.

This will flash ONLY the kernel back to the original Nokia kernel, keeping all your other stuff untouched. (right? got me out of bootbrick, atleast.)

also, check out this wiki for more info: Flashing and what not

Before this could be done for me, I had to update my motherboard to get some new drivers to manage the USB-ports, as I had to install another HDD with XP on it.

Im rambling now. so happy it worked out, even thou it costed me half a day.

Good luck everybody
