Hi

New Version Online:

28/07/07: N800 Video Converter 0.8.4.0
http://xoomer.alice.it/sepaolo/n800vc/

Whats New:

* Video Podcasts support (RSS Version 2.0)
* Emergency Button (:-)) if the video Hangs
* Setup

The File ZIP contains only the EXE files, if you need mplayer/mencoder download the full version.

Go to WebSite for a complete changelog.

You can demux subtitles from mkv file in the same directory of mkv file (N800vc, if found subtitles with the same name of video file, copy them to destination directory).

I just want to add my thanks to Paolo for this excellent program! Not only is it very useful, you've worked hard to improve it and keep it working...bravo! I've been using it to convert my TV programs, and I'm trying to get to where the sound is synchronized.

Following this thread, it looks like the best settings are video-784/audio-192. Is that the consensus?

For an end-user, what are the variables that matter most (ie smooth play back and synchronous sound)?

Again I want to say thanks Paolo, for this superb effort!

Thanks! You are welcome :-)

These are probably the best settings for quality/smooth play.
I convert my files to 512 kbps Video/128 kbps Audio. For me this settings are the best compromise between quality/space.
I have two SD 4GB and i convert all my videos at week-end in order to see them during the week in train (i travel two hours every day to go to the job ).

Thanks, Paolo, for the prompt reply! I'm converting a video right now at 512/128. You say this is the best balance considering space, but what if space isn't so important? Would higher bitrates for both video and audio be better? And what about the frame rate? Would the quality be better if it is higher? I noticed, for example, that the source for my recorded TV is 29.75 fps but the default for the Converter is 15...is there something better (or worse?) about a higher frame rate?

I'm going to get a bigger SD card (tho the current thread on the topic has me wondering ) so for all these settings I'm thinking quality over space...which leads to yet another question, tho.

What is the advantage to 2-pass encoding? So far I've just done the single pass but I'm wondering if this is why the audio isn't fully synced with the video in the tests I've made.

Thanks again, in advance, for your help and advice.

Peace
