Well, it looks like I've got it mapped accurately to the number in the config file I found, but it's anybody's guess how good that config file is.

The file was for a Cisco 8485DVB; is that the device you've got? I'll take a look for some other Cisco config files.

Yes, it is a Cisco 8485DVB Rev 1.7 I think that the exit key is mapped by the info key

Info key? Hmm, I don't have a value for that key in the 8485 config file. Are you saying that the "exit" button is bringing up an info window? (I'll see if I can grab the manual for the 8485, maybe I can find a little more data.)

Can we boost the power of the ir diode?Currently the effective distance is quite short compare to normal remote

This has been covered further back in the thread.
Pierogi has done all it can to get the best range AFAWK (half duty)

Unfortunatly there seems to be differences between N900's and there IR range. I have two different revision N900's the newer one has a lot better range than the older one.

The N900 will never compare to a standard remote, they are designed (made for purpose) to get the maximum spread of IR at a high output.

One thing I would like to do is poll to get peoples maximum range between N900's out of interest. I may make something if anybody's interested.
Maybe if we could find out a correlation that X, Y and Z have the best ranges we can investigate the differences in hardware.

, but can I ask, just what kind of distance are you getting? In most of the testing I've done (which mostly involves couch-to-tv distances), my N900 has no trouble reaching the target. If you need to be very close to the device before Pierogi starts working, I've probably got some settings wrong...

is there's a way that your app could record certain commands to do after each other for example :
1-open the tv
2-vol up
3- menu
5-up command

so you can set all of these on the N900 then you get closer to the tv and click start so the commands the user set goes on .,

Yes, in fact, Pierogi is just now starting to gain the ability to create "macros". The current system is still quite crude (and, so far, only seems to be working for me! I still haven't been able to discern why it isn't working for Sixwheeledbeast), but is available for you in the "Macro Panels" option from the panel selection button on the upper right hand side. The UI is pretty bad right now, but allows you to create a macro, give it a name, assign it to a button, and create a list of commands for the macro to execute.

The system still needs debugging, tweaking, and much UI work before it becomes truly usable, but you can try it out and see if it does the job for you...

Hmm, a brand new version of the Roomba! They might have changed the IR protocol for it. (Actually, I'm not entirely sure that all models even support IR control -- the manual says "optional accessory for selected models" in the Remote Control chapter.)

Can you tell me how limited the distance is? (There shouldn't be a range problem with Samsungs; I've been doing a lot of my testing on a Samsung LCD, and getting respectable range.) Thanks!

Edit: The Roomba manual also states that the "Home Base" and "Virtual Walls" will interfere with an infrared remote control, as they are apparently using the same IR ports for communication. So, you can't use the remote when the robot is near those items...
