qole: does the movable windows hack still work -- there's no key bindings for it in the current .xbindkeysrc?

Question 2: the maemo 5 rootstrap image that you have on your archive is not the latest rootstrap, no? I suppose i could mount the image that you provide, zero it out and then unpack the latest armel SDK rootstrap on it, yes?

Anyway, the bootstrap is just that... one would need to install development kits before doing any real development on the device, no? But more importantly, starting this SDK image via easy chroot, gives me a shell in 'root'... how can I get a shell as 'user'?

I have bow made a ubunt karmic image for easy debian. I had to give up on the alpha relase of lucid. It was too unstable. The c-libs on it was so unstable that it often made my N900 reboot.

The karmic image looks more stable than the lucid one. I have put in the hacks for sound and made a link from firefox to iceweasel so that the shortcut for iceweasel will start firefox. The java-appletsigning problem I had in easy debian image is gone in this ubuntu-karmic release. (S)mplayer works well in lxde, and plays files well.

The image can be download here:

hstende: I have also wasted most of my weekend on Ubuntu. I have a Karmic image with only OpenOffice.org upgraded to Lucid's 3.2 version. I'll post it on my site in the next few days.

I agree that Lucid is very unstable. I started over 6-10 times when the whole image corrupted... I upgraded Apt and that seems to have kept things from breaking this time...

My version has no sound, Java or Firefox, just LXDE and OpenOffice. 3.2. Maybe I'll host both of our versions; I'll make mine only an OpenOffice 3.2 "appliance".

@qole I had openoffice 3.2 rc4 stable, but lot's of other programs got unstable, and I found the c-libs to be the one making trouble. My lucid image got more and more unstable after installing new apps. I think it's better to stay with karmic in ubuntu till lucid gets to beta stage and openoffice is build for release and not rc4.

hstende: you're right, it happened again. As soon as I install openoffice 3.2, apt is broken beyond repair.

So the trick is to install everything I need from Karmic, and when I've got it completely set up, install openoffice 3.2. That will break Apt, but OOO works fine.

This time I made a pre-lucid backup...

qole: maybe we could try installing openoffice 3.2 with forcing it to use the older c-libs. I don't know if it will work, but it might work. I installed strace and when running apt with strace it worked most times..........(maybe the error didn't wan't to be traced )
Synaptic also worked most of the time...

Hi everybody.

I am having problems with this new version of EasyDebian, and the image v3b. The Synaptic not open under LXDE, only in the menu of Maemo. But, when I install a app, it not appears for me in the menu of Debian. It's a bug or I am doing something wrong? The installation process occurs without any problems, and I tried install image both in MyDocs and in microSD card, without success. Anyone can help me, please?

Thanks in advance.

Can remember if the synaptic inside Easy Debian works. I use the one in the maemo menu, or apt-get to install stuff.

@hstende
Im testing the img from you right now. Did i miss something, or how do i right-click ?

Is it possible to boot this images direct with the bootloader ?
I got mer/lxde running on my N900 and it would be nice, if this would work too.

OptX, thanks for your response.

Inside EasyDebian there three icons of Synaptic. One in "Others" tab, and two in "Configurations" tab. The second of "Configurations" tab finally run here, but the icon of app (FreeCiv) not appeared, yet.

But now, the menu of the Debian also disappeared, so I think I will have to reinstall everything again.

The v2 image was definitely more stable than this...

Is there any way I can install it again?
