windows, and i tried an ubuntu vm same result!
after connecting it for about a minute it gives:
usb device not recognized, then disconnects, then appears the message that i'v posted for a few second then it shows the mydocs folder for a few more seconds then it shuts off.
i pressed the power button for more than 10 sec, then tried to press very shortly and i get no blink, so i thought i might be the battery is flat.
this is the 1st time i use this usb cable, it's a samsung U2. could this be a problem, i though it should be compatible with all usb cables.
What OS are you using, Linux or Windows?

Are you sure the device is totally OFF when you connect the flasher?
Have you flashed it before with the same computer, same cable?

One thing you can do, is to start flasher, then connect the device to cable, then press and hold down the power button for real long time, I think it is about 30 seconds or so.
After some time the flasher will recognize the device and start, only then you can release the button. This should work always, no matter what, if you do it correctly.

I have found out that some cables might be OK for charging, but NOK for flashing or communication. Don't really know why but it just is so.

With windows anything is hit-or-miss, and if something does not work the way you expect, you just have no idea where to start looking for the glitch...
