Also, AFAIK ARM memory consumption is somewhat less than that of a modern x86_64 system. So that 256MB is actually 'more' compared to a 64bit 256MB atom netbook. Not 4x more to be 1gig, but still, more.

True, but what I am concerned about is with the 256 MB is that where we would install programs as well? Wouldnt want to be limited as to installing only that much as we are on the tablets. Or, will the programs be installed to the microSD do you think?

err, i think one is confusing ram and flash/storage...

its storage will be a 8GB microsd card (the place where the os and software will go). and as its a microsd, one will be able to expand that in the future (probably by booting from a usb stick and mirroring the current sd over to a new one, unless one wants to do a full reinstall).

the more i look at this thing, the more it seems like a geek dream...

Throw in a 16gb or larger once availible for the os and programs and that would work for me. I cant wait till this is released!

now that i think about it, their solution would be close to what one would have if nokia sold the N800 the with os on the internal SD rather then internal flash chip.

Well lets just hope thats how they are doing it rather than be like the tablets and have only a very limited ammount of space for programs.

I'm liking the idea of the dual internal usb ports so you can stick a couple extra dongles or pen drives allowing for quite a large expansion of storage space.

According to the info theres 3 internal usb ports. Would be nice if when docked with the keyboard we could have one or two on there as well, for using a cd/dvd drive mainly.

Yeah, thats what I gather as well, surely the entire interior of the keyboard isnt take up by the battery, otherwise Id think youd get more than a day of use out of it. LOL
